You also skipped points about how it would kill AoD, lower other server player bases, and ruin the time for people who don't like playing zombie and see everyone on zombie and not TNT/AoD/Solitude/JtE ( I assume RoF would keep close numbers.)
But you are saying that Pzombie would be succesfull and have enough players to remain a good server. Otherwise if you think Pzombie would be empty then there is nothing to worry about for other servers!

Please, stop using that as a point of opposition; it's stupid. Of course it'll lower the populations of the other servers. That's inevitable when you introduce any new server. That will happen when Solitude is released.

I meant for awhile, no need to be rude. TNT stole popularity but look at it now. The thing is zombie was popular around here, but then it had all the players of classic who could go on for free so it could populate it to. Now it's essentially just on here plus a couple people who find it through ads. Now there's not enough players to keep a good amount on all servers. If we had a lot more players, I'd say yes to this idea. But since we don't, no. You gotta think of consequences rather then just "I like zombie so its good to bring it back" without thinking much about it.

I'm sorry to do this but. This issue as already touched upon, voted upon and discussed at length. It ended up causing a number of heated splits in the community and after much discussion with various parties we agreed that we will not be following this route - this decision will remain fixed for near future. Sorry to anyone dissapointed with this decision but the thread is being locked for the above reasons.

We appreciate the care and feedback you put into the issue.

Edit - sigh, let me clarify

Seeing as people are so intent to take this to pms with admins i will give our response once, you can accept this, or you can not. But this is our official stance on it.

- Like it or not, the mechanics of AoD and Zombie 'are' similar, the underlying concept (kill player, player joins your team - thus this idea of 'zombifying') is present, and this is the CORE theme in both styles of game. The only real differences remain the presence of pvp and the presence of various premium mechanics.

- The previous poll which was designed to contain no bias came up with odds against the premium zombie server, this thread (or at least its poll) is somewhat useless... Of course people are going to vote yes if you dedicated an A4 page to trying to convince them to say yes...

- The servers would cannibalize players from eachother, i know we aren't the best at marketing ourselves right now and we're well aware of that, but even if we market it people will get confused by having these two servers side by side, they are just far too similar to co-exist.

- Is this outright saying premium zombie is bad? No, it's saying that we cannot oust AoD just to please the nostalgia of old zombie players. We respect how much the server is missed and we also respect your dedication to the community, but this will not change for near future.

I respect that some disagree or are upset, but this issue is causing far more of a split than it should and this remains a firm no. We have taken community feedback, discussed it extensively with both staff and players and this is the answer we came to. Given that the people pushing for it refuse to accept 'no', as an answer regardless of any case or even numbers against the server, we are not going to keep entertaining threads on the matter.

Right, after that intermediary period (thanks for hiding the response, always good to see blocktopias finest out on the prowl. ) we've agreed to re-open the thread and mediate it with the understanding that for the time-being/forseeable future we are still sticking by the official response from the last poll. Please keep it civil ladies and gentleman.

My only thing I must say... If the main problem is that AoD and zombies have such a close core to them, why not keep the Classic Zombie mechanics but rather make it a group tag game? I.E. start as blue and run from red. It would be easy to distinguish the servers from each other but still fun all the same.

Please keep it civil ladies and gentleman.
No offense, the only time I saw any of this thread turn to a possible flame fest was, (again, no offense), Later_Gator's "captain obvious" bit. It only took a turn for the worse when it was locked up, from what I have been reading.

It was mostly based on where we predicted the thread was heading (mostly the last few replies, captain obvious, thats stupid, dont be rude, etc.) , going off what happened in sploorkys we wanted to avoid a repeat scenario of that, after much discussion it was agreed that it was best to continue the thread and i'll simply sit by and moderate replies. I mean if theres one thing we've gathered in the past few weeks its that people tend to get quite emotional about this specific subject and let it blow out of proportion.

Was going to post something earlier, decided against, thought about it a little, and I shall try to make a post again.

As much as I would love to see zombie survival back, trust me, I would, I have to agree with Sploorky . I think the cons really do out weigh the pros in the long run.

I also agree with Pikmon2 on PTNT. I mean, it's a great server, I love what they did to adjust to premium. But the server popularity just isn't there.

And I believe it was Prizyms who stated something along the lines of it derailing from the aspects of premium. Which I also agree with. Minecraft has long forgotten about classic, and it's all about adding stuff to premium, and i think trying to bring back a classic server into premium, and keeping the classic aspects, is not the best idea.

Ok, yes, it would bring back a few people, but I don't think it would be enough for a strong server. A lot of people have moved on and settled in other servers. We would just run into the same problems that we ran into near the end.

This isn't the biggest community out there. (Which I like btw, familiar faces, not too many people to deal with, real nice) There's only so many people on the servers at a time. With solitude coming, the servers are also going to take a decrease obviously. And I think people will be more interested in solitude than Premium zombies, and it will just never grow to be what it was.

What I'm really saying is that I think it's just too little too late. Although I really do appreciate the work you guys have put into this, I just don't think it would be the right move for the community. To bring PTNT back up (as an example) that server is already struggling with player numbers, and with another server already on the way, there just won't be enough players for it to be enjoyable. As 77_is_the_best said, zombies is one of those servers where you need a decent amount of people on for it to be fun. And although there seems to be a decent amount of people in favor of this, timezones really spread those players out.

Again, I loved zombie survival, and would love to see it back, but I think it's time to accept the fact that we have to move on from it.

3. We would have to raise the donation amount.
We have a lot of generous donors and are making our donation goal in 2-10 days. We can support one more serverthat will help our player base expand. I don't see why this is addressed as a major concern. If it was 20-25 days into the month before filling donations then it would pose an issue.
I think it's a major concern when we abuse the generosity of our donators by creating more servers we can't pay for. Money doesn't fall from the sky and there's never a guarantee that our donors will always be willing to give money forever.

We can't take donations for granted just because they fill up quickly.

The only problems that were run into at the end was the java error where when you tried to break a block the game menu would pop up then there was the stats refresh and the skin error. We are not going to release it right away. Wait until Solitude dies down. So, you complain about the server resembling classic then you mention TNT which decided to use premium technology. Zombie is a game of simple gameplay nothing complicated and would be comparable to RoF that uses blocks to make a house against lava and RoF is the has the most players online 90% of the time. Also, AoD has the 2nd highest players for the last 1-2 months and should continue to do fine. One player is not going to sit around and only play one server. I would play AoD and Zombies still, I wouldn't be like oh they are the same I wouldn't go on. I would get off zombie and be like Im in the mood for PvP and go on AoD. There is enough support for both servers.
We can't take donations for granted just because they fill up quickly.
Yes, we are grateful for the donors that keep the servers running, but then why did we add TNT and Solitude in the last 4 months, because it would please a certain amount of the player base.

I'm very mixed on this. I would have absolutely loved to have been able to play on an actual PZS server again, but I can see where the Admins are coming from in terms of comparison to AoD. No, it isn't the same. But there are similarities.

HOWEVER, I have noticed people saying that CZS is "old" and that it's so "old" that it wouldn't work (being outdated in terms of the idea, etc). I disagree with that 100%. The idea of CLS was very old too, older than CZS, and yet that got changed to Premium, and look at it now. It's easily the most popular Blocktopia server. TNT, that also got a port, and although it isn't as popular, it's still got the same dedicated staff members/players. You can't really say that a server's ideas aren't innovative enough when Blocktopia has two servers that were previously closed as Classic and then ported into Premium.

Hockey has my full support in his quest for this. So good luck. What? I got nothing to add to this discussion only to say this because of what hockey and others have said is what I was gonna say.

I would love to play on a PZS for it would actually get my interest in premium and may make me active again. It would just not only help get BT some more people, it would also help bring something new instead of bringing an old server back like Solitude, which I also support and rarely play on but nonetheless. If a Premium Zombie does, by some miracle, gets approved, although the odds are not in its favor, I would play on it till the day it eventually dies.

Honestly I would love to bring back zombie. But this topic is overdone and its been killed every time. Most zombie people have left or accepted there won't be premium zombie survival and moved on to another server. I fully understand for alot of zombie people its hard since no others feel like home. But I really don't think there is any chance.

And there is the factor of premium being hidden. I don't really think it will draw new people, possibly bring back a couple but I don't believe it will be very successful other than a couple dedicated players. And what Fruit said exactly, there is alot of people for it but you have to have people on to have fun and time zones spread people out.

But yet again, if there is any chance it will work, I'm all for it.

Although I would love an exact replica of CZS to return, it's unrealistic. So I'm not going to waste my breath pining for something that won't happen.

BUT, I will fully support a PZS that embodies the classic zombie but embraces the features of gameplay that premium has to offer. Using old zombie maps as references to get my point across below.

1. More complicated puzzle maps utilizing red stone mechanics and command blocks. (Vault 17 on steroids)

2. Potion power ups. (Maps similar to Racetrack... Hit pressure plates for a speed boost, etc)

3. Who says zombies can't ride horses?

These are just a few basic and, pretty much, undeveloped ideas on how a ZS could change for the better in premium while still remaining a non-PvP 'tag' game.

I do love the horses idea, that's pretty inventive, Lily. Any who, I see where the staff are coming from. I really do, but I'd have to say if CZS came back, there would be so many people coming back to Blocktopia. A good number of the people that have left or diminishing in activity have moved on to Mine Maniacs Zombie Survival. That has to say something about the situation we're in.

I am in for the idea of PZS, but I have one concern. I know that this was brought up in the previous page, but I don't see the question getting directly addressed:

>Will it attract new players?
The problem is this. When _4_ posted in the Minecraft forums about a petition to save Classic, the petition was mocked by some rather rude users. This shows that there are still some players who feel that premium>classic (in a biased way). This means that a PZS server with a classic base may not interest people and the server might not have its appeal to some premium users. In other words, it might not bring in new players. In addition, considering the fact that PTNT was initially popular but soon became deserted, will PZS end up like that too? Will it receive a lot of hype but the hype will die down? Again? I know there are some dedicated ZS players like hype, rose, etc, but will they be the only few players that visit the server everyday after PZS is released for a few months? Even if we do advertising, but I'm not sure whether premium users who saw the advertisement would actually consider going to a server with a classic base. Sure, the idea is refreshing, but I'm not sure whether PSZ will turn into some "inside" thing for the old ZS players. New premium users who are foreign to our community may not get the purpose of the server with a classic base and etc. What the people who posted this concern earlier are not asking about the reason for the low playerbase in ZS. We just want to know whether this server would be long-lived.

Sorry if it sounded like I'm against PSZ or something. I adore ZS more than anything and I still play on classic ZS servers of other communities but there are some things that can't be denied, unless there is a direct solution to it.

When I posted in the poll, I was against it. I still have mixed emotions about it.

Recently i have gone searching for "premium zombie servers". There are a few servers that I like their concepts. Of course some of them are like AOD but none where near exactly like it.

There is this one server that is the closest that i've seen from a premium server to be sorta like classic zombie except for it just has some premium stuff added into it for humans like swords/bows/webs/running/barricading inside houses/buildings. The zombies have no speed or run in them. They have no weapons and can't use weapons. You go walking around the maps hitting humans dealing little damage at a time until they are infected. Did I mention you can hide name tags? That works great for a zombie server.

I would actually say the IP but I would be afraid people would throw a fit over "advertising". So if you just want to take a quick look at it pm me. Of course this explanation isn't the best since i'm never the best at explaining stuff like this. I actually enjoy this server to a extent and I see some promise into it if you can edit it further into a true zombie server.

Edit: Hockey this is likely to fail. Best thing for you to do is to try and come up with the server on your own. If I had the money to donate to see how it does for a month or 2 I would. but money is gonna be your 2nd biggest issue with this.

The reason it was mocked is because classic had a ton of issues especially that annoying bug when you break/build a block the game menu opened. If you never played classic or never knew what zombie was you would think this was a fresh new innovative server where you can infect people by running through them. Yes we have dedicated zombie players more than TNT or lava when they had their release and the current debate is will it steal players from other servers (AoD) it will have the popularity and the player base in AoD can handle a small drop in players and with new players coming back for the zombie server they are more likely to play other servers as well so that would balance out the missing players.

If you post one thread about it on the minecraft forums it will stand out in the crowd of PvP games and will bring curious people who have never thought of the concept of running through players to infect them. There will also be other people from other server that will treat it as a sub server and go on when they need a break from their main server.

It is possible for a replica of CZS but we have to give it time. After Solitude launches the player base for each server will shift. So until it dies down we won't have correct numbers to determine if there is room for Premium Zombie or it will end up costing another server player issues. As for the suggestions zombie was simple game and that appeals to some players. The first idea with redstone to power doors and stuff I can agree with. Power-ups would ruin the gameplay and I disagree with that however other players may feel differently. Horses are very glitchy they don't move in water will speed up zombies and in my opinion are a bad idea.

The problem with this is, if you just google "minecraft zombie servers" it brings you up to zombie servers with all different aspects of zombie. You'd have to really work into how it is done to make it better (the thread that is) then the servers that already have 30-40+ people in it. They'll be attracted to the ones with more people in it from what I have learned.

Well, some are mob halls where you getting money by killing zombies and shop with it. Others are where you are in fort with a team and player zombies siege your fort and you try to survive, but this is really something truly different than many other servers out there. Well if we post a thread if this is release the server will be full for a while until the hype dies down a bit and then is the opportune time for new players then we will know our player count when the hype is gone and I am thinking at least 10+ which would still make this turnout a success.

You're being lazy, not even giving it a try.

The thing i'm seeing you all saying is that the playerbase will be weak. Classic got less of a playerbase due to problems and classic all-round. Premium zombies has potential, and you're letting it go to waste.

Now, look at the poll. From when i looked, more people support PZ then not. But the fact is 13 or 14 didn't.

In comparison, I don't really support solitude, but it's gonna happen anyway. Now i disagree on 'can't break blocks quickly' So? How about a plugin? If you cant find it, what about coding one. I know you cant code in a minute, but it can be done. I suggest we have the creative inventory, but on survival so we can have all the blocks. I dont mean tools, TNT, spawn eggs, cobwebs, lava etc etc but you can have them in the inventory but not able to place. About the tools... I'm not sure. However, i dont know if this is possible, but i suggest you try.

I support premium zombies. It will work, and we can attract new players. I hate how negative some of you are being.
