What's your Opinion on how Blocktopia is operating as of a whole?

What about Starbound? It got recently better admin tools.
Wow. I was just about to talk about that.

Plus, with Starbound, you have worlds upon worlds you can explore. Plus, free roaming PvP in the final sector.

I feel like it'd be pretty interesting to have a dedicated Starbound Blocktopia server. x3

We can have threads where you can post your coords in and shit. Multiple races means multiple people gettin' different items and thus being able to trade with each other.

I do believe we need to give players enough coal when they start out to fly to another planet in the same sector so they can get away from the spawn and join their mates.

Furthermore. Starbound's still in Alpha if i'm not mistaken. This means, (Just like Terraria) it'll update quite a bit for the next few months. This also means we'd need to either stall the server or get some really dedicated persons to run it.

Overall. I think a starbound server is doable. But there needs to be enough dedication and interest...

Many months ago, I had a discussion with malcovent about expanding to other games. We had a mutual agreement at the time that focusing on one game isn't really the best idea. Instead of making a commitment to a terraria/starbound/cs server, why not just put it up for the hell of it, and when people stop having fun with it, take it down(like the pixelmon server).

The best memories I have from blocktopia servers were the temporary ones. Solitude, Werewolves, that one vanilla update where we all killed the enderdragon. Perhaps a frequent string of impromptu event servers would be fun.

I completely agree with this. While I don't know how well it would work out with different games, I can definitely say that event servers are one of the more exciting things in this community. Remember how hyped everyone was about DoD when it was first announced? Yeah, that was because it was new. Now that we've all seen what it's like and experienced it as much as we'd like, the numbers are dwindling, because it's not new and exciting any more.
Same goes for A&T and probably Infection as well.

Now, I'm not saying that DoD, A&T and Infection should all be removed from the line-up, not at all. I'm only saying that the hype wears off in time, and that event servers should stay temporary. However, that's all the more fun from them, because in the short time that it is new and exciting, lots of people will be on those servers and honestly, I don't care about what the server is about so much, I care about the people I play with. The people is what makes the servers interesting and fun, and event servers draw in more people. Therefore, event servers tend to be more fun. And if we get them frequently, then I think it's safe to say that the fun that comes with them becomes frequent as well. Not too frequent, people would like to catch their breaths between event servers probably, but maybe with a month between them, if that is possible.

Well we could have event server lasting for a month.
Then we can start next one, as hype would substantially fall by then.
BTW Infection is down for updates. Also AT is for playermade events.

Yeah, I'm aware that Infection is down for updates, but let's be honest, it didn't exactly get hordes of players before it was taken down either.

OK. Once I post this I'm ABSOLUTELY sure you'll all hate me. But, this is my totally honest opinion.

As most of you may know I'm horribly inactive on the servers. That's just because I've sorta phased out of minecraft (but It's not outta the picture at all.) And I've noticed over a large amount of time many great people have left the community because they're too busy. Hell, I've been really busy at times but did I leave? no. I think that we've lost so many awesome people and I get that they might not have time to play on the servers, but the forums seems like a much more plausible way to stay with the community. As has been said in previous posts, maybe an expansion to other ftp games would be awesome such as Gmod, LoL, and WoW (last one cuz I'm biased :D). Overall I think we're doing alright but really, it just doesn't feel like it did a while ago.

StarBound is not fun online, especially if you make everyone start a new character. After purchasing and playing through StarBound I can say I'm not a fan of it, especially considering it's essentially an alpha labeled as a beta, but my mind might change if I played with some people.

About a week or two ago we had an HC+ meeting and talked about several community topics, one mainly being events/other games.

There is not much I can say about other games because we're still putting thought into a possibility of what we would want to play.

However, nill had a good idea about events; we create a schedule each month and fill in each friday with a different, unique event. Hopefully we'd get the Directors to host some so we wouldn't have to make Baker or stein run all of them.

I do also agree with Sploorky too, we should strive to having less-permanent events/servers.

A few other games to suggest:

GTA (of course)
Pixel Piracy (thank @Shanebat1 for introducing me to that name, still haven't bought it xD)
Rust (right?)
Half-Life 1, 2, episodes 1 and 2, etc.
L.A. Noire
Maybe <-- MapleStory/Mabonogi

A Few livestream games to suggest:

Both Amnesias
Plants vs. Zombies (that'd be an interesting one for Baker to play <P)
Portal 1
Slender/Slender: The Arrival

EDIT: COD and Halo Maybe (don't lash at me, it's just a SUGGESTION)

I thought this was a thread for the opinion on operation, structure and delivery, not content and services rendered and provided.

Talking about involving other servers honestly is a serious 'put up or shut up' type of thing. While everyone is anxiously waiting around for a TTT revival thanks to the gracious Ronaldo I've only seen one person actually put any sort of effort to wanting to host their own server. If it is possibly for the community this I do not know.
I doubt others would be willing to host at a regular time and interval. I can honestly say for Starbound I would with an appropriate dtdns.

The suggestions have been mostly terrible so far as only a handful are actually 'community games'. In better words a game that can host many, many players. Which a few named games cannot support that and will undoubtedly have players waiting for a turn. Waiting for a game to open up on a server that at most will only be open rarely and for a few hours is not even worth rolling over in bed.

I would be willing to host a server. But real world constraints which are currently out of my control prevent me from doing that. (My data limit is the killer for me)

As for other games, it just seems like people are just saying what games they like (which isn't a bad thing.) But I would think that games that 1) could have a private server for just Blocktopia and 2) could handle a good amount of players at one time would be ideal. Rather than us just playing on a huge MMO for example.

Also, I think that we sometimes tend forget that money can be a huge issue for people to buy new games with short notice. Blocktopia/TheOne started out as a f2p (free to play) Minecraft Classic servers and then over a long period of time, Premium was implemented more and more and today you have to own Premium in order to play. So an event server that might just last a month and not reappear for over half a year might make those who can't purchase the game for various reasons, feel left out or excluded from activities with their friends. (I am not saying that all event games have to be f2p. But we should keep this in the back of our minds.)

Just like Lee, I was under the impression in the beginning that this thread was about how the community was being run and how it was structured. But I guess I misinterpreted it.

GMOD costs €10,- you nub.
mc is like 30 bucks, your point?

Turning back to the actual topic, all the games that have been mentioned sound fun for events or game nights.

@Duffie said mabinogi- it's a great time for new players to join. they have buffed new player items like crazy the last week and it sucks for older players but for anyone thats new its the perfect time to join.

Oh lol I had no Idea :p and WoW is F2p up to lv 20 thats 22% of the game :p but at least it has a decent F2P part
??????
You can't just go off of levels. The game content would make your percentage more like 9 or so considering endgame, battlegrounds, arenas, dungeons, raids, multiple zones at each level, and experience needed to get to the next increasing
