Bad reports for necro posts will from this moment on be punished with a general warning through the forum warning system. At least when I come across them, and I hope other staff will do this as well.

There is no reason to get a necro post report wrong, yet I see several reports a week that are bad.

It's simple, a necro post is a post more then 1 month after the last post.
(There used to be exceptions to this rule, but for simplicity's sake, there are no exceptions anymore that the general public should worry about. It is a "Moderator decides" issue now.)

To use an example that I saw today:
previous post of January 10th will be a necro post starting Febuary 10th. Not on what it is today: Febuary 3rd.

It's simple. Look at the date of the previous post. Add a month to that. Has that date passed? Then it's a necro post. If it hasn't, you're fine.

There is NO reason to get that wrong. If you get it wrong, you're wasting staff time, and shouldn't be touching the report button. Therefore you will get a general warning.

I thought we were allowed to post a post if it had a good enough purpose, for example the post on One_Survivor's thread about Just Cause 2, which was a necropost if you don't count PickYerPosion's post as long as it had a purpose that served the thread.

Then again, I know that what I think isn't what I can do, so are we allowed to or is there really no exceptions to it?

I thought we were allowed to post a post if it had a good enough purpose.
I was thinking the same thing.

For example, I had 'My Technic Adventure' for my SSP Technic Pack stories.

It was well over a month ago it was last posted in (December 26th), but I was told that if I were to post for a good reason, such as continue my story, I would be able to do so, bypassing the necro post rule.

I was going to continue the story with Technic 1.0, but may I get a notification saying if I can or not?

Thanks.

If it doesn't really add something new to the thread or the discussion is completely over and the last post is over a month ago.. then it's a necropost.

It's better if people bump an old thread in cases as Duffie's and Shiny's then make a new thread about the same topic.

Necroposting is bringing a dead thread back up, bringing up an inactive (for whatever reason) thread is not per say necroposting.
