Suggestion Donator Perks

Hey guys.

What do you think about having donator perks? For example, donators get access to a certain playermodel or hat.

One issue I see is that we don't have donations just for TTT; it goes to the community as a whole including servers that most of you guys don't play, so I'm not sure whether most people would be happy with that and may just want to donate if it's going to TTT alone.

Yeh hitboxes are a problem ^^ hence why i hate models :D

Absolutely not, this is an awful idea. Selling commands/responsibilities is one of the most dangerous things to do, even if it is only votekick/voteban. Stick to cosmetic items that have little or no influence over gameplay

The community as a whole has always been against donor perks. It gives power to those who have money and the rest of the players who cannot donate don't have those perks.
I think a title is definitely okay, but I also don't mind cosmetics.
Any item which would influence game play I don't think should ever be allowed.

- A extra vote when voting for a new map. At the end of every map, when you vote, its possible to enable it for certain groups to have their vote count for 2, instead of the regular one.
- Spawning with a gun of choice. Used to have this on my old server, you could select with what gun you would spawn (only normal guns) so that you were never empty handed. Pretty much for lazy people.
- (optional) voteban with a max of 1 hour (30 min?).
- EDIT: And loads 'o loads amounts of points obviously.

Nothing that influences the game but nice bonusses for donators overall.

It's slap actually. And as Inffy previously stated somewhere, us no-lifers are supposedly trusted and the command is only used for fun and never to maliciously disrupt gameplay.

You also clearly haven't got very much experience then. 2 of my previous servers I have played on we had to remove the rights from donator because of numerous abuse reports from several people.

Buying ULX powers shouldn't even be in the question, it is a terrible idea and is unfair to players.

Nah but having 2 votes instead of one is bullshit, getting a lot of points is somewhat understandable, but can still lead to buying preferred weapons instead of having the struggle, like the rest of players, to find them (Same for spawning with a gun) Voteban? Again, terrible idea. Donators aren't Admins so they shouldn't even get a sniff of that responsibility.

I got plenty of experience, i guess you just run bad servers.

First one had 24/24 all day and all night through the summer with a solid and strong community albeit small.
Second one was good and again, had a strong player base until it get restarted and went tits up within two months.
Despite that, you will always get donators who will abuse their powers, even if its a small number ie. the two you had, that's still 2 too many.

If you waste 200 hours of your life on this server, I doubt you would risk anything by intentionally abusing that power. I only ever use the damage side of it if its on an admin who can easily set their health back. Again, I or anyone else with the privilege never maliciously disrupts gameplay with it. That's my point.

but you still get it for free, i think youre missing the point im trying to make.

250 hours = sacrifice to show dedication = free slap (which you can use to kill people)
Donating money = sacrifice to show dedication = voteban which requires the whole server to vote on, and is easily reportable.

Of course youre going to have people that will abuse it (just like with the slap, dont tell me no one on this server has ever abused it), but if you just remove it from those right away then there shouldnt be much problems. Dont forget, you still need the whole server to vote yes.

My personal issue with giving donators votekicks/bans are:

1) Someone may kill people for legit reasons and from everyone else's point of view it is RDM but if someone was online who had access to logs they could say otherwise. And since there is no admin and the donator is in control, they make a votekick/ban and get them banned when actually what they did was legit. And I know people can abuse slap and kill people which also causes damage but I think kicking/banning someone is more dangerous. Also:

2) It's not just that people with 200 hours have made a sacrifice to show dedication, it means we've known that person for a good amount of time to be able to tell whether or not they're trustworthy. Either they aren't and they've been banned before getting to 200 hours, or they aren't and so we know not to let them have access to !slap once they reach 200 hours, or what is more likely, they are trustworthy since they've been with us for a very long time and are well aware of the rules and have chosen to stick with us because we get along well with them. Also 200 hours is a very long time and there are only a handful of people who have it and we added that rank months ago. So going with the 'sacrifice to show dedication' thing, I think being here for 200 hours is more dedication than donating a few quid to the servers because someone could just splash some cash as a newbie and have potentially risky commands but it takes a tonne of time to get !slap with the rank system.

Just my thoughts, though. Thanks for making some suggestions, keep 'em coming, and keep discussing this one too of course if you still think it's a good idea.
