My photo resolutions aren't really clear, sorry.

Here's my drawing of a Cassowary. I'm really lousy at shading the fur/hair, so any advice?

My drawing of a random guy on iPad!

Here's my ruined drawing of Hei from Darker than Black.

Here's a drawing of picture of an anime girl I found on Tumblr. Ignore the random face on top.

I do appreciate if constructive comments are given. Thanks! : D I do take random requests (just ask me to draw anything), I see them as practice, so do ask!

;___; Honestly, I'm nothing special myself. I've tons of friends who could pick up a pencil and immediately draw out a masterpiece. Art is something that you have to consistently practice to achieve the results you've wanted, and I've been drawing for 5 years now. Many times I look at other people's drawings and felt depressed and wanted to give up, but I tell myself different people specialise in different aspects of drawing. I'm sure you are good at drawing certain stuff though! Practice and you will get it! Your control will get better over the years! c: All you need is reference and someone to look up to. It will greatly change how you draw.

These are cool. I've tried drawing a few times myself, so maybe something I figured out could help you.

Right now up there you have unordered fluff. My best advise for fur is to draw the body structure first. After that you can add little bits of fuzz along the edges and fur/feather texture along the body. (directionally, follow the shape of the body)

Ignore previous advice, I proved it wrong after testing it myself.

Keep a pointed edge, and keep long strokes for long/smooth fur/hair. Keep it light at first, and add more layers where they need to go respectively. Always follow the pattern of fur on the creature too, as this is what helps the drawing look better. Shorter fur is the same advice, just shorter strokes/layering of the fur.

I can draw/add examples if you really want. your stuff looks really nice though! You're better with proportions than I am by far.

EDIT: Also when switching between skin and fur/hair on creatures, it's easier to make the outline of the skin with the fur and not the outline of the skin, as it adds depth and the impression that the skinned object is actually merging with the fur'd object. :3
