Today, I saw yet another thread asking how to play Classic servers on a Mac. Noone seems to know how, so here goes. This can be done in two ways;
Working around browser Java issues:
The problem revolves around using the web browser Safari. after the 10.6.8 update for Safari (to support OSX lion), the Java applet broke and thereafter Safari couldn't run anything big involving Java plug-ins (i.e. minecraft online).
I got around this issue by downloading an older version of the web browser Firefox, which can be found here: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
That above is Firefox 3.6, which, unlike Firefox 4, still supports Java plug-ins with OSX Lion.
The older Firefox still works with OSX Lion and the Java applet, and fixed any problems that I had getting on Zombie Survival. Hope this helps!
Note: while loading a multiplayer server on Firefox, don't scroll or click anything on the screen except the 'Accept' button on the Java plug-in notification pop-up. Firefox has recently fixed it so that you only have to hit it once, scroll down, and play.
Using the World of Minecraft [WoM] Client:

EDIT: Looks like this method is now faulty. A better, more in-depth guideline can be found here; http://blocktopia.net/forum/threads/direct-connect-to-any-blocktopia-classic-server-fast-easy.10869/

World of Minecraft is a game client that allows people to play Minecraft Classic servers without accessing their browsers. Accessing it on a Mac is essentially the same as using it on a Windows computer. Please note that Blocktopia's Classic Servers do not allow you to hack using WoM. Join the game, type /client hacks off, then rejoin. If you don't do this, you run the risk of being banned for hacking.
The first thing you need to do is register an account at www.worldofminecraft.com
After this has been completed, log in, and go to the 'Downloads' tab, and click the Download button next to 'World of Minecraft Game Client'.
This should take you to http://www.worldofminecraft.com/Game_Client
Once here, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click the Macintosh OSX version. That will download the client for you, and you'll be all set to run. Open the game, and search for [Blocktopia] in the search bar.
Again, note that Blocktopia's Classic Servers do not allow you to hack using WoM. Join the game, type /client hacks off, then rejoin. If you don't do this, you will run the risk of being banned for hacking.
