How to Measure a Website for Dimensions?

Googled this question and got deadends and arbitrary answers.

Was wondering if anyone from Blocktopia knew how to get website dimension measurements for pre-picture sizing. Example: Attempting to make a custom header for Tumblr. I was able to correctly size my Tumblr but after a lot of trial and error. I'd like to be able to make headers for other people without the trial and error uploading.

If you know any tools/plugins that'd be great. Thanks in advance.

Web site dimensions for pre picture sizing? I'm confused as to why you'd put the effort in. Put the Image in a div, give that div the % size you want it to have in your css, and give img tags 100% size as well. They should resize to 100% of the div they're in, which will be the size you want it to be on the page.
