Well basically I have ~$800 and I want a good gaming desktop. I live in South Africa and don't know where to start. I heard it's better to build your own computer but I don't know how and where to do that. So, if you fellow Blocktopians could lend me some advice I'd appreciate it.

That's the guide I used to build mine. I didn't follow it exactly (In fact, I don't think I used a single part he recommended), but I thought it did a good job of guiding you on how to choose parts and how to actually put the thing together once you have them.
