Nightmare... Or weird dream?

I was at my house, with my siblings. We were on the roof.

Wait, I don't remember the roof like that...

And then, suddenly, the house shook. Then, Thor (the Marvel one of course) came along and said to hide. So we did.

And then, the house shook again.

Hologram-Marvel-Thor disappeared. This time, it was even more scary.

This is the nightmare part.

It shook. Soldiers started coming in and grabbing us. And then, the house shook. Even worse than earlier.

And then, I blacked out.

When I woke up again, it was eeriely silent.

I looked around- to find my entire family dead.

When I looked up, there was a soldier.

Then, Papa woke up. He saw the soldier pointing his gun at me- and went in front of me to protect me.

He was shot.

And he died.

Then he looked at me, pointed his gun at me-

Then I woke up.

...

"WHAT. THE. FIDDLESTICKS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!"

What made it so scary was the fact that my family was dead.

If you don't think it a nightmare, then fine. I think it's a nightmare... Hey, you're not the one experiencing your entire family being killed!

Well, then again, they're not actually dead, it was just a stupid dream...

Nightmares are dreams. Like a subset of dreams.

I used to have nightmares a long time ago.They were always about someone close to me getting shot,or me getting pushed off a building.To control these dreams of terror,remember that these dreams cannot actually hurt you.After you realize this,you also realize that you can control these dreams.So you can do anything in a dream or nightmare.I fly alot in my dreams.:D

Sounds like you just had unlocked lucid dreaming potential, because controlling your dreams can take years of practice for some. :>

I actually had dreams like this on a regular basis, up until I was about 7. I told my mom, and she made a "Dream Catcher," and she said it would catch all the bad dreams. I believed it would work, and I don't recall having a bad dream since.
In my opinion, if you believe no bad dreams will occur, they tend not to.

80% of the time I die in my dream then get that dropping feeling from like a one of those rides that drop you from a certain height and you fall for 10-20 seconds.

I don't know much about dreams, and have only ever been able to control my dreams once or twice. It's called lucid dreaming. (Here's a link: http://m.wikihow.com/Lucid-Dream.) I haven't had dreams about my family dying, but did have a dream about my parents leaving me while they waved goodbye happily. Mind you I was young at the time, but I remember waking up crying. I did have the odd nightmare about Freddy Krueger and dolls coming to life, but since then I've been unable to dream or have nightmares. Now as an adult I usually can't wait to sleep and think about nothing. (￣。￣)～ｚｚｚ

I think I know... During my dream, I also saw Thor catching rocks. I just noticed; every single dream I have, there is always SOMETHING that's like a game. No, seriously, there's always something resembling a game in each and every dream

Most of my dreams are weird, but either play out as if I'm playing a video game, watching a movie/anime, or living a different life.

Mine are crazy. I remember this one dream, it made up from annoying catchphrase. It was "I know you'd like to stay and chat. but we got some showbizin to do!" Most annoying dream ever, that part at least.

I really enjoy dreams be it sweet ones or quirky one or even nightmares. Every night I would pray that I would dream, namely because I feel that sleeping is too boring (I'm weird!). The creepiest nightmares are the ones that actually foretold a future event. For example, when I was around 8, I used to obsess over this pink mechanical pencil that my sister had. One day when I went overseas, I dreamt about finding a similar pencil, but one that was purple in colour. Then the weird thing happened. Years or possibly months later, I found my mother using that pencil that I had dreamt of, overseas. What made this dream so weird was that I was pretty sure I had never seen that purple mechanical pencil before I dreamt of it, and the place I lived in that time when I was overseas was also rather foreign to me.

Dreams come from your subconscious mind. It is sometimes a way of projecting your thoughts, feelings and other bunch of things in the form of symbols and projections. Based on my personal dreams, I find this true as what I dream of are mostly those which I have been thinking for the past days.

That is a really bad dream. I've dreamed of something similar to this but with comets and earthquakes, and had several others too, including supernatural elements and ghosts.

Fali, when I was young pretty much the only dreams I ever had were nightmares. I was afraid of the dark-- or rather, afrai
d of what is IN the dark. Still am. Then I got a dreamcatcher and really believed it worked, I don't dream often anymore. And dreams are your subconscious mind jumbling things up and acting out a thought, or jumbling up multiple ideas which creates a really weird dream.. *cough cough Goofy cough cough* These thoughts can be fears, good things or just a load of bull crap xD..

The weirdest dream I've ever had: Goofy the dog was evil and was chasing me in a void of dark red *shiver*

My most terrifying nightmare: My dad, the new girl at school who was now my friend and her dad (I didnt even know what he looked like O-O) were all being hung. ;3; My brothers friend was evil and was the one hanging them, and he had a ray gun that completely obliterated things. I untied my dad (Sorry Jordana and her dad :/) and would try help him escape, being chased by Oliver (the friend). My dad would continually get captured, until at one point I couldn't untie him. I was crying and crying and crying and resorted to begging Oliver to let him go. When I woke up I realised I was crying and I instantly jumped out of bed and ran out to find my dad fine, and I gave hugged him tighter than I ever had before ;-;.

Most awesome dream ever; If you know the BFG you should know this; In the book the BFG catches dreams. One of the dreams he caught and showed to the little girl, Sofie, was a dream that was about you, the dreamer, saving a drowning teacher off a jetty.. Funny thing is, a day or two after I read the BFG I had that dream. Haha.. Ha..

Weird Fact 1: Apparently my brother had the same dream about Goofy O-O
Weird Fact 2: There was a dream I used to have really often, which was me a my two old best friends being chased through a maze with like.. tons of monsters chasing us.
Weird Fact 3: Another dream I had really often was one where I was with my dad (WHAT IS WITH MY DAD BEING IN MY DREAMS) and we were on a really high cliff, our backs flat against the cliff wall and trying to shimmy along a narrow ledge. This dream would always end with me falling into the shark-infested waters and sinking, sinking into the dark blue and I'd wake up, usually really freaked out.
