Seems like there are other artists on this forum so I need some constructive criticism! I'm in the early stages of a painting in sai and I need some advice on where to go from here (warning- a bit of artistic nudity):

I'm planning on making the scene underwater and adding color to the person/dress but aside from that I'm not sure where to go. Advice?
:)

I do not know what your envisioning as the final outcome but, where the image is currently, there are many anatomical/perspective issues and you don't seem to have a solid grasp of how light works, especially underwater. To progress with this image I would look up references and try to figure out what elements make something look like its underwater. Right now you have a very unrealistic choppy gradient in the top left corner making very even highlights on a figure. The even lighting coupled with the fact that the whole image is one tone makes for a very flat image. You might want to consider drawing things from life and observing the shape and values of the objects you are drawing in order to have better results with this painting.

I'm afraid I can't give you any criticism; you're a far better artist than I. I do very much like it so far, though!
Thank you :)
I don't think that their is such thing as being better at someone in art, as art is in the eye of the beholder. I'm sure you are great at it!

Thanks for the the detailed cc. I plan on adding color to make it less flat, the colors I have so far are just a guide for my lighting. I also plan to fix the light/gradient thing, it's just a guide for where the light is coming from. As for drawing from life I don't do that often, this is just my art style. thank you :D
