**THIS IS WITHOUT PLAYING THROUGH THE ENTIRE GAME, HENCE "MINI", BASED OFF WHAT MY BROTHER SAID ABOUT THE GAME AS WELL, AND JUST FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN.**

*Title Mistake, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword should be game title

Rating System --------------------

1 - Terrible
2 - Awful
3 - Very bad
4 - Bad
5 - Mediocre
6 - Okay
7 - Good (Not an IGN 7.)
8 - Great
9 - Amazing
10 - Outstanding
--------------------------------------

NOTE:

Take this as a first impressions, as that's what I meant with "mini" review. Thanks!

HISTORY:

Skyward Sword got super duper hyped. Reviewers put it on level of Ocarina of time. Everyone went nuts. Everyone was like "omg bst zelda gam evr", but everything turned upside down. For me, and most a lot of people recently, at least.

REVIEW:

My brother got this game around when it came out, with the music disc and the game. I had just got Sonic Generations, so I beat that first then went on to SS, and I was like "oooo motion controls ooo- OH GOD THAT TREE LOOKS AWFUL". (Beat 1st dungeon, that's how far I got by the way.)

GAMEPLAY:

Oh boy. This game. Hey! Like Zelda games? Like puzzles in those games? Want EVERY SINGLE ENEMY TO BE A PUZZLE (THE SAME EXACT ONE)????? Well thats how combat is. Its sliced down the middle, to the sides, ect. It was a big step down from Twilight Princess's combat where there were tons of cool moves, and you could fight enemies usually how you wanted to. Now enough of the awful combat, let's move onto the big one, the motion controls. Now at first, I thought they were great. But then, after I started playing again months later, I hated them. The sword would constantly not follow my Wiimote correctly and would be off the opposite side of me, which really doesn't help with the combat system. It's so bad and unresponsive Metroid Prime's Wii port has better controls, and it was a PORT. The game also is basically a straight line. So much so I felt I was playing Super Mario Galaxy (great game), which is LEVEL BASED, so its gonna be in a straight line. I mean it got to the point where there were FENCES (which didn't fit with anything else in the game) incase you might not follow the the path that tells you where to go. Don't even get me started on "Fi". Most annoying character I swear. But the fun doesn't end with that, the dungeons are reaallly boring to. I hear one later on is really good though, so I'll leave that one for debate, but from the first 1 hour plus, there is nothing to hold me back from thinking the rest is this bad.

GAMEPLAY SCORE: 4.0/10

STORY:

I think Fi is the master sword, but who cares. Zelda gets kidnapped by the worst villain in zelda history, and gotta save her. So different.

STORY SCORE: 0.0/0.0 (Didn't get far enough for fair rating.)

GRAPHICS:

The only good thing about the graphics are that if you go close they look painted, and at some points look like a pretty painted scene. Other than that it looks a disney game, which is never something good. Plus the tree's look flat out awful and something from the early 2000's PC days at best. Also link as lips. Which is awful. (But nit-picky.)

GRAPHICS SCORE: 7.5

FINAL SCORE: 5.75/10

THOUGHTS:

Go buy Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Ocaraina, or Major for your 3D Zelda needs. Not this. Never this.

Side Note:

The music is iffy. Its definitely not bad, but it's not memorable at all.

I'm sorry but if you haven't played the whole game yourself, you can't review it. Especially if the only part that you played was the introductory dungeon, which is bound to be straight-forward to help new Zelda players adjust to the different type of game play.

I don't want to get into too much detail but I'm afraid that I will. I agree with the whole linear point that you made, at some points mainly at the beginning, it feels like you are running in a straight line but as the game progresses (which you unfortunately didn't get up to) the world gets more and more expansive. Sure, it doesnt have the massive Hyrule field (I think that's what it is called) like in Twilight Princess but it has many large areas that are good for free roaming.

Now this part got me the most confused. You found the sword unresponsive. Guuuurl you gun need to get sum new Wii remotes honey cause mine werks perfectly :m. The main leap from Twilight Princess was its amazing motion control. I could swipe any which way and the sword would follow, even if I dont slash, the sword follows every movement.

Fi is annoying.

And graphics, well its a wii game, what do you expect.

I think the best part of this game is the story, which even if you hate the gameplay, you should keep playing just to see the full story take place. Gurl I was lyk gettin emotional.

I called it a mini review since I didn't get far enough for a full one ;) I guess its more of a "first impressions". It's the first hour/ 2 hours of the game and I felt like nothing happened. Twilight Princess was slow as heck but things still happened. And Wind Waker is awesome. That is all.

But just because it's Wii doesn't give it a pass on graphics ;P Galaxy looked really good, Okami looked fantastic, and we all know mario party 8 deserved awards for its beauty . I'll say "Take it as a first impressions" in the thread though, since it's essentially what I meant with "Mini review". Also I Know it's better then TP's motion controls for sure, just from what I've seen of TP for wii (I have GC version), but every other Wii game BUT skyward sword never really looses the controller position (sometimes though) . Maybe I'm just playing it wrong, but it happened often.

Thanks for the reply,
