When I decided to resign partway through July, I had two reasons behind it. The first was, of course, that I'm heading off to college - I didn't feel I could afford to give both the community and my college studies the attention they both deserved, so I reluctantly chose to resign and focus on my future.

However, the second reason has been nagging me for more than a year. Through most of my time as a Head Admin (now known as Administrator), I'd always felt I wasn't performing up to snuff. I did what I felt needed doing, I helped out everyone I could, but I always had the sense I wasn't quite doing the job expected of me, given the amounts of work I regularly saw put in by the other HAs. I kept quiet about this and kept plodding along, but lately I've felt it's been getting worse, and with college coming up, I knew my activity could only drop, so I chose to resign. It wasn't fair to the community to continue sitting on my rank as I grew more and more out of touch with it.

I've been extremely touched by the amount of people who have sought me out to thank me for the time I've put in and the work I've done. I have many, many friends here, and many others who I don't know as well but would like to - I fully intend to stick around even though I've resigned, and if/when I do leave, I won't forget the time I've spent here.

Iguana was the one who first promoted me to operator, after he recognized me from when I joined a vanilla server he'd put up a few days prior. I'm not capitalizing "operator" because there were only three ranks - players, operators, and high staff, and ingame there was no difference between the last two. The high staff included TheOne, LG_Legacy, and Joshuam08, although I think there were others. Perhaps Sade was one too, but I don't remember if he actually was or if he was just well-liked.

There was only the Lava Server. The operator commands were /op, /deop, /kick, /ban, and /say. Few people used the forums, so they weren't so much an information hub as a community center. Hell, for a few weeks I wasn't even aware they nor the IRC chat even existed. The IRC chat's address was handed out on a whim, without any confirmation of if anyone was staff. A few of you may be old enough to remember the nuke command, which made the server output (unsupported) ASCII and crash everyone's client.

Eventually we stretched out to a Build Server (which proceeded to go up and down constantly). Sade vanished, LG_Legacy derped around on other servers and resigned. san00b rocketed the fuck up the ranks and made everyone flip a shit. I got Head Admin on October 1st, 2010. Deadl0ck joined me on the 22nd. TheOne derped around on his own servers, apologized, and stepped down. At that point, we felt we needed a new name.

Oh, and apparently on December 31st, Yuck's (alleged) wife (allegedly) gave birth to an (alleged) son. VERY LATE CONGRATULATIONS YUCK!

Now that we've hit the name change, I can probably stop, since most of you know a fair bit of this. But I WILL provide the NEVER BEFORE SEEN (except by those in it) LOG OF WHEN WE FIRST STARTED THE #BLOCKTOPIA CHANNEL!

I'm not really a "shoutout" kinda guy, so I'm not going to write any. If I took the time to write a personal shoutout to the rest of the friends I've made here, I'd still be writing by the time the college schoolyear begins. But just know that if you think of me as a friend, I almost certainly think the same of you. I've always considered anyone I didn't know as a friend until they gave me a reason not to like them; that's just how I operate.

I also know I have probably offended a number of you in the past. If that's the case, I deeply apologize; except in a few rare cases, I probably didn't intend to. Except for you. Yeah, YOU. You right there. Get out of here, nobody likes you.

Ahem. To conclude, I've had a wonderful time here, and I'd like to thank you all for making it such.

And, for those who skipped the first bit, once again, I am not leaving the community. I am simply resigning.

I want to say that college isn't all that hard, but I go to community college and am only a vetop, so what do I know about being able to give your attention to two things?

Ignore that, that was me thinking to myself. Don't worry, you've done well here! It's good that you're staying, too! :D But sad to see ya resign. You've been Admin for longer than I've had premium and when I first joined here a year ago.

Don't underestimate the work you put in, you actually had a crucial role, even if you don't realize. You have a home here. Always. And truth is, I have no idea how we'll do the stuff you did for us.

I know I've been angry at you a few times, but I am happy that you realize (In part cos I told you, I think) that it wasn't personal, it was my situation causing it for the most part... and that dispite that, we've always been good friends, and had a LOT of fun together.

It's rare to find someone that can unknowingly press some of my triggers, and then is able to accept the fact that an episode was triggered, willing to sit through it and still be my friend. That's meant more then you'll ever know.

DONT GO MAN. Oh wait, you're not. Fuck. Well, I don't feel like deleting the above. A real man shows his affection for his bro. At times.
