Yeah. I've left and come back before. Complain if you feel like it.

The fact is, this community is no longer welcoming to me, and hasn't been since a few years ago when the Classic servers were shut down. The old friends I had made left, and everyone else was new and didn't know me.

When I finally joined Premium, I was outdated. None of the old guys I had become acquainted with were around, and had jumped ship long ago. The new crowd didn't really reach out to me, and when I talked to them they didn't have much to say.

I've played Classic for 5 years, and I firmly believe it to be the heyday of Minecraft. It was so laid-back; you could play a leisurely game of tag or build a castle with some friends and just chat about everyday life. There was no big emphasis on winning or losing, it was all about a bunch of communities built entirely on enjoyment and being with your companions.

Classic was simple. Not that many blocks or add-ons or objectives. It was very straight-forward and welcoming and not a serious atmosphere. I played all sorts of games while in Classic MC, made all sorts of creations, and I still occasionally do.

Premium has too much going on for me. The game modes are more complicated and are taken much more seriously. The blocks are very numerous and there are so many objectives. It wasn't as calm and nonchalant as I had previously experienced in the Blocktopia community.

Sadly, Mojang strangled Classic until it bled almost its entire player base dry, only concerned with making money for the up-to-date, 'fresh' Premium.

After being alienated from the other servers, my last resort was lava, the most laid-back of them all... only to find it changed. And with Infection becoming more Premium-centered to suit the rest of the community, I just don't see my place here anymore.

I'll still be here, but I can't play Minecraft like this anymore. The fun has been sucked out of it for me. The Classic years have died, and for someone who has thoroughly enjoyed that game for a long time, this new community doesn't have room for me.

I'm into Classicube now, which is an updated and clean version of Classic, without the annoying presence of Mojang. I still play and build and chat. But I can't take Premium.

I'll be lurking around, poisoning you with metal music and such, but I won't be taking part in the servers, and I definitely won't be too active.

It's a sad moment to take a step back, but it's necessary. I don't enjoy Premium. My place lies with Classic and whatever future it holds. So, feel free to contact me, but this is probably a permanent adieu.

Thanks for the times. The Classic servers helped me feel welcome during times in my life where I felt as valuable as garbage. So I appreciate all those that befriended me... a lot.

As much as I dislike Premium, good luck to you all, and I hope Blocktopia will live on.

I'm still here Marskid, I played with you on Classic Lava :)

I adapted to these changes. maybe because I was pure Classic for month or two till CaramelCow bought me Premium.

Also here is david, mikey, and other old people.
Some of your old friends play LoL, WoW, TTT and other such games, maybe you have Steam?

Sadly enough the community has changed and changed over the years, some people see it for the better, and some people see it for the worse, I can't say what my opinion is but I can see the downfall in Blocktopia, last summer everyone shouted "It's just players at school wait till the summer holidays everyone will be active again".. unfortunately that never happened and as sad as it may be the player loss is growing unless something is done about it.

We are just getting less traffic - Classic had 600 servers and like hundreds thousands if not few millions players at its golden age.

Now we are much harder to get found and we are competing with like tens of thousands communities - most of them being single server. So instead of peaking of 120 - 150 players on all servers we now reach around 40 - 50 at peaks.
Also there were plenty of griefers and other rule breakers.

Last year there was no classic yet there were still more players than there are now, disagree or rate my post funny, because myself and plenty others are not oblivious to these facts.

I usually don't jump into these kind of threads, but it sounds like you're distorting the facts here a bit. Like AngelWV said, it's a fact that the old playerbase jumped ship and I also believe that Blocktopia has declined in a lot of ways. I won't indulge in this here, and there may be various causes for this decline which are neither obvious or discernible. But if you're going to blame outside effects every time this topic comes up, lotsa luck, because this situation isn't likely to get better with this attitude.

And Marskid, I can't keep count of how many leaving threads you've made by now. It's not 'simply lurking' that way. x]

Edit: Blocktopia dying is not even a remote possibility by now.

First saw you on Jacob_'s CTF (don't know if they had changed the name to Vexillum yet) around 4 years ago.
I remember when I was 10: "Will you ref me?"
"No."
I still haven't forgiven you. :'(
Anyways, I never really talked to you through Blocktopia much, but hopefully you'll still drop in on the forums now and then, as you say you will.
Take care!
