Yeah. I've left and come back before. Complain if you feel like it.
The fact is, this community is no longer welcoming to me, and hasn't been since a few years ago when the Classic servers were shut down. The old friends I had made left, and everyone else was new and didn't know me.
When I finally joined Premium, I was outdated. None of the old guys I had become acquainted with were around, and had jumped ship long ago. The new crowd didn't really reach out to me, and when I talked to them they didn't have much to say.
I've played Classic for 5 years, and I firmly believe it to be the heyday of Minecraft. It was so laid-back; you could play a leisurely game of tag or build a castle with some friends and just chat about everyday life. There was no big emphasis on winning or losing, it was all about a bunch of communities built entirely on enjoyment and being with your companions.
Classic was simple. Not that many blocks or add-ons or objectives. It was very straight-forward and welcoming and not a serious atmosphere. I played all sorts of games while in Classic MC, made all sorts of creations, and I still occasionally do.
Premium has too much going on for me. The game modes are more complicated and are taken much more seriously. The blocks are very numerous and there are so many objectives. It wasn't as calm and nonchalant as I had previously experienced in the Blocktopia community.
Sadly, Mojang strangled Classic until it bled almost its entire player base dry, only concerned with making money for the up-to-date, 'fresh' Premium.
After being alienated from the other servers, my last resort was lava, the most laid-back of them all... only to find it changed. And with Infection becoming more Premium-centered to suit the rest of the community, I just don't see my place here anymore.
I'll still be here, but I can't play Minecraft like this anymore. The fun has been sucked out of it for me. The Classic years have died, and for someone who has thoroughly enjoyed that game for a long time, this new community doesn't have room for me.
I'm into Classicube now, which is an updated and clean version of Classic, without the annoying presence of Mojang. I still play and build and chat. But I can't take Premium.
I'll be lurking around, poisoning you with metal music and such, but I won't be taking part in the servers, and I definitely won't be too active.
It's a sad moment to take a step back, but it's necessary. I don't enjoy Premium. My place lies with Classic and whatever future it holds. So, feel free to contact me, but this is probably a permanent adieu.
Thanks for the times. The Classic servers helped me feel welcome during times in my life where I felt as valuable as garbage. So I appreciate all those that befriended me... a lot.
As much as I dislike Premium, good luck to you all, and I hope Blocktopia will live on.
