It would probably be beneficial if the community branched a little to cater for outliers who don't play on the servers, nor check the forums, but will play games with old friends from here, and coordinate games with others.
Steam subforums are quite simple, with subforums listed down the side and discussions listed as they usually would be. The discussions tab will still direct to a specific subforum, but since there's multiple the foremost generally should be a general discussion or rules section.
Subforums such as;
GMod
CSGO
TF2
DOTA2
Mabinogi
KSP
Robocraft
Warframe
GTAV
AdVenture Capitalist
TBoI:R
PAYDAY 2
Starbound
Skyrim
and whatever people start taking interest really would really be nice to have for smaller scale discussions, where they can be kept separate from the main forum itself, should it start becoming notoriously active again, and also, as mentioned, provide a hub for all this stuff that people might play but don't come into much contact with the community for because of a lack of presence.
Games like Minecraft, League and Hearthstone don't really suit the concept as much, being non-steam games, but certainly would work to some extent.
