The paleontology fiends among us will recognize lagerstätten as reservoirs of diverse or well preserved fossils. My suggestion is simply this: That sometimes in the more barren areas of the map relics of a fallen civilization will be "exposed" by the wind, and after an undetermined amount of time be reburied in the dunes. These relics could be anything, such as half covered buildings or long abandoned buses, but they would contain rare items or materials. I feel that this could allow the more empty areas of the map to become more interesting, and encourage exploration instead of purely defending already looted buildings
