So...this is now a thread for skinny people to express their pride?
Luckily this thread is moving quickly away from a shit storm, so I think we should let it continue.
No I'm just pointing out how the thread accomplished the exact opposite of what it was supposed to :p Anyways, yes let's keep on moving.

I lost 35 pounds in 9th grade (in college now) and am no longer overweight.

There is no excuse for being fat. It's just laziness.

Wait, why am I discussing this on a gaming forum again?
There is actually many excuses for being fat including mainly heredity and metabolism disorders.
Metabolism = Laziness/Lack of metabolising, right?

Not really. Slow metabolism isn't because you are lazy etc., and your body will always metabolise. It only depends on how fast/slow you metabolise. Most of the time slow metabolism is due to poor eating habits. Contrary to popular belief skipping meals and dieting actually make you fatter. So if you want to be slimmer take smaller, healthier meals multiple times a day; eat to lose weight, not skip to lose weight ;)

Shit why am I talking like some professional weight loss specialist :n

The funny thing is people always love to blame metabolism.

Did you know the difference between a 'fast' and 'slow' metabolism is only about 2 pounds? It's a common misconception. However, everybody can indeed do things like eat 6 small meals a day to speed their metabolism up - everybody's metabolism can be 'trained'.

What about the difference between people with metabolic disorders and without? Diabetes being one of the most common of such disorders. Granted, a lot of people have diabetes courtesy of their terrible diet, but an unhealthy metabolism is also a sign of kidney/liver disease, among other things, and can certainly result in much worse than 2 pounds.

This, of course, ignoring the fact that metabolic rates are a function of usage over time, which would beg the question of two pounds when? Each meal?
