A suggestion for a forum feature

I feel like we should be able to add polls to existing threads.
At the moment this is not possible, however, using this add-on, it totally is. I've always wondered why we weren't able to add a poll after a thread got started, as most forums do allow this. Apparently it's not possible in 'vanilla' Xenforo though, so, I thought, let's suggest this add-on.

Why do we need polls again? I hardly see them used! While some Admins will suggest to use the survey form of Google, do we even need polls and modify them to be used after a thread's creation (dunno if that's easy work for GmK)? Such fancy feature to go to waste if hardly used.

What benefits would an enhanced poll system provide? I don't see any negatives to a new poll system, it just seems a bit unnecessary. The majority of the forum users express their opinions through the rating system or detailed posts like these. However, if not complicated to implement, it could be a fun feature for off-topic forum games. Also, if staff wanted true opinions, posts or google surveys could give precise feelings about important topics whilst polls are normally definitive yes/no questions.

All in all... Short "tl;dr" summary....
Not beneficial but could be fun.

It's not a whole new poll system- Just makes you able to add a poll to a thread which has already been created. Nothing else. It would definitely be beneficial in my opinion- If you forget to create a poll, you don't have to re-post the thread.

Ahh okay... It looks like a great idea so long as people don't start adding polls to every suggestion/submission thread instead of typing out their opinions and reasons. :)

But how would this feature affect that in any way? People are already able to add a poll to their thread when they post it, so if someone would want to have a poll on their thread they'd add one straight away, no?

hi so i suggested this quite some time ago now (its been exactly 3 months), Sploorky & Baker93 I was wondering if this has been thought about

As seen in this thread the idea has not drummed up an awful lot of support and neither I or Sploorky can see it being used very much at all. Though it may have occasional uses, there is not sufficient demand to warrant the add-on being added. If you need to gather public opinion, make a poll when the thread is created or add a g-doc at a later date.

Thanks for taking the time to suggest this new feature, and apologies for the late decision, but unfortunately the add-on will not be implemented at this point in time.
