Just wanted to say it isn't a *perfect* anime. It has its flaws, which mostly came from the possibilities they put to waste. Makes it seem like the story was rushed a bit, which is sad because the anime had a lot of potential. K1ngHoward
Completely agree. It felt very rushed with the multiple time skips and the length of the anime itself. I expected going into it to have 24 episodes of SAO then ALO would be another 24 or 14 episodes. Many problems with SAO could have been fixed with more episodes with each arc.Just wanted to say it isn't a *perfect* anime. If they would've kept SAO as its own season (which is definitely could have been) and found some way to pair ALO with something else... maybe the computer system went haywire and since it had so much power, it completely changed the game, so the players had an entirely different challenge ahead of them. Like the world literally falling apart, changed, and attacked the players as foreign entities. Now that I typed that out... that could be its own season xD. How about just drop the ALO arc all together. :DCompletely agree. It felt very rushed with the multiple time skips and the length of the anime itself. One theory i have toyed around with about the compaction of the two arcs is that the studio realized ALO was the weaker of the arcs so it paired it with the SAO arc to improve the entire series as a whole. If ALO itself was its own season it may have tanked the franchise since it is the weakest arc in the Light Novel series (or so i have heard). It is a smart move if that was their plan. :3
ALO arc is still important though since it is a part of the series and cements the relationship between Asuna and Kirito. It also gave him the power and strength to return to using the nerve gear to continue the future arcs as well. Though ALO is a weak arc it plays a very strong role in connecting SAO and any future arcs together. How brave do you have to be to put on the same technology that held you captive for all those years to have a small chance to save the girl you love?If they would've kept SAO as its own season (which is definitely could have been) and found some way to pair ALO with something else... maybe the computer system went haywire and since it had so much power, it completely changed the game, so the players had an entirely different challenge ahead of them. Anime Updates:
F.. Fi... Finished "School Days"
For those without a strong body or mind please, i beg you, do not watch. This anime stressed me out. Every character in it i hate, i have a head ache, the ending was justified, but disturbing as all hell, and it takes a strong will to get through it. I barely survived this ordeal without, punching my computer screen, or boiling over with anger at everyone in the show.
This anime has become my "Most Hated Anime"
Time to find a comedy to make me less depressed and angry...
What I'm saying is that because of the ALO arc, they had to find a way to fit it somewhere, which really just felt hamfisted (is that a thing? I'm making that a thing) They had to shorten the other arc so they didn't get a chance to use the amazing opportunities they had to make a great anime. Such as more character development/exploring the environment/the 60-70 floors we didn't see/the fact that people seem to forget that the entire game is out to kill them, asides from Sachi (at least kirito, which might be due to him being so OP). I don't think it is necessarily a bad anime, I just don't think it was executed right.I'm aware of the flaws unfortunately :c
I watch SAO because I've always been seeking adventure from somewhere else, and as a gamer a Virtual Reality is the coolest place to find it.
EDIT: ALSO CAN WE -
The ALO arc was not that bad, nor was it totally unimportant or a reason to drop it altogether. I consider it a bonus, and really its more SAO and its not terrible - what more could we ever ask for?
That's another example of them having to shorten the series, the could have made that a major plot point, which they seemed to be leaning towards but they just had him put on the helmet after looking at it after saying "A game you can't die in is just too easy".ALO arc is still important though since it is a part of the series and cements the relationship between Asuna and Kirito. Did they have to shorten it because ALO was a thing? I'm going off of K1ngHoward's theory.Did they have to shorten it because ALO was a thing? I don't know why that would be the deciding factor?
What do you mean by "ALO was a thing?" I am just confused right now :3Did they have to shorten it because ALO was a thing? I don't know why that would be the deciding factor?
So then what's your theory that it could'v expanded if ALO didn't exist? What do you mean by "ALO was a thing?" I am just confused right now :3Did they have to shorten it because ALO was a thing? I don't know why that would be the deciding factor?
Do you mean that they had to shorten SAO because of ALO?
>>>The anime is based off the light novels of SAO and a light novel in Japan is considered less than 200 pages. There was only 2 novels per arc so there wasn't much for the anime to go off of. I heard it left out many scenes from the light novel and it contained more information than the show itself (all books to movies/anime adaptations do that)
>>>It would be nice to see the other floors, but the original author didn't write about the other floors that we missed. Looking at it now i guess it is good that we only got shown the fast scenes since any MMO player would know is that an MMO game contains a lot of experience grinding. That would be very boring to watch or repetitive too if we continuously watched multiple boss fights. Most of this is just speculation though on whether it would get repetitive since, the fight scenes in SAO are absolutely well choreographed and drawn. :D
argh, i am coming off as if i hate SAO, but it is one of my favorites.
>>>>My theory mostly focuses on the combination of the the two arcs into one series. I felt that SAO could have been shown at a slower pace then what it was going at since it always seemed like it had somewhere to go all the time. That is one problem with my theory that you helped point out to me though so i can help improve it, but theories are neither wrong or right until more evidence is provided to support or deny the theory's credibility. Right now it seems to be completely false. So then what's your theory that it could'v expanded if ALO didn't exist?
No, I think they could slow it down, yet still show Asuna's change of heart. Or maybe the speedups were the only way, but only because she rarely ever sees Kirito, let alone talks to him, considering the second time they partied was 2 years after their first time in Episode 2.>>>>My theory mostly focuses on the combination of the the two arcs into one series. >>>>A deeper meaning to the faster pace of the series as a whole could be on how Asuna feels about the game. If i remember correctly, Asuna continuously wanted to get out of the game as soon as possible thinking she was losing time in the real world. The time skips occurred during this time period and and the skips didn't stop until Kirito taught her that she needs to slow down and focus on the finer things in the game. From this viewpoint we could agree that the time skips and quick sqeed is needed to show off a correlation to Asuna's change of heart towards the game and her willingness to view her "prison" through a different light.
>>>>Let us get cryptic. xD

(genres: adventure, fantasy, romance)
^^ saw this as Biblius's avatar in TS I hope its good ^_^
This show is quite like Spice and Wolf (Ookami to Koushinryou) they are both made by the same studio, and the voice actors are the same for both shows. It was one of my favorites to watch, can't wait for a season 2.
I really liked it, uhtr5r is the one who showed me. :)
