I have a few questions regarding maps and their submissions, which everyone may or may not like to see

  1. Are we able to have other things outside of the boundaries of the map to add to the aesthetics of the map while still keeping the boundaries? And still have it added smoothly to the map/server?
  2. Would you guys prefer if we submitted the map, (when done from Single player) with void boundaries of the map?
  3. Is there a stricter limit or recommendation to the height limit? So that people do not have 256 high maps with six timers or 256 maps with like twenty timers so it floods nicely but a minute after the next.
  4. Are we allowed to make traps, with spawn eggs, in perhaps an un-enterable dispenser to shoot out mobs?
  5. Can we have a “peaceful” map with no mobs? Or maps with different games modes, Hardcore/Adventure/Creative. In the case of Adventure there would have to be a safe place, maybe through a sea of mobs or a place only certain blocks can be placed somehow.
  6. Is it possible, if it does not cause too much strain on the servers, to have customs texture packs or back grounds to the sky? And/or have a map always be night time/day time
  7. NPC’s. They are in JTE; is it possible to bring some over for certain maps if they are needed for extra aesthetics or add to an RPG theme if there is one?
There was a plan for myself to make a space map(s) or an RPG map(s)… Among several of other things I have running through my head.

If anyone else have any questions feel free to ask!

1. Yes (Not 100% positive though), just as long as the map boundaries are marked, because we don't want to throw off and confuse the players.

2. This is probably a better question to ask Ogar/dirt, since they implement the map into the server. Personally, I don't think it matters TOO much.

3. I'd really prefer for the map to be a fair height, at most 100-150 blocks would probably be the estimated to it.

4. We set mob limits to the map, so mob eggs from dispensers wouldn't be recommended. For traps, I am pretty sure that one map use to have a trap, and nothing really went wrong with it too much, so just as long as it is for fair purposes.

5. Glacial use to be a mushroom biomed map, so no mobs spawned, which meant it's pretty much a boring, free cookie round with no sort of challenge. Keep the maps to normal difficulty. As for game modes (NOT creative), that may be completely fine (not 100% sure).

6. This is up to Ogar/dirt. I personally don't see a problem with it, adds some variety.

7. Again up to Ogar/dirt. Also, make SURE that any sort of NPCs are to not have any sort of item that players can trade with.

Thanks for quick response! When I'm back in three days I will probably implement a few of these where possible.

So is this a thread for any map questions? :d

Can one submit a World Edit schematic download hosted on mediafire from a personal server?

We can easily use it as such! And yes you can do that!
That was the point of the thread, so feel free to ask any questions you have

My other two were answered in game, and using nether portals to connect require coding; so it is possible but needs work to do so, which I do not think ogar or dirt would want to do. Also command blocks are fine as long as they can not be reached or click/toggled (so surround them in bedrock)

I don't think the bedrock would be necessary, don't you have to be in creative to change commands in command blocks anyway?

You can do it in survival

I just tested, you can access them, but can't change anything.
