Blocktopia Convention?

BlocktopiCon is an idea that's been passed around since around 2010, the general consensus is that it'd be cool but too much work to organize. I know that smaller, more local meetups could happen though. Clockwork and I are going to eventually go drinking together.

I think global Conventions are impossible - we have too primitive technology to let kids wander around Earth in middle of night!
Average age is around 15, lack of money, timezones, too complex to organize, safety.

But 5 up to 10 Blocktopians in one place? Why not! Certain states of America would be best or EU countries for European people.

If we actually /do/ want to do this, which I'm sure everyone does, it could work like this:
East Coast USA
West Coast USA (this includes anti-contiguous states like Alaska and Hawaii)
In-between States
Oceania (Australia, the Indies)
Europe
And then for anyone else - you'll need a flight to any of those, sorry.

I've honestly wanted to organize a little get together, watching movies, going bowling or something, with a few friends all over England, but I don't think I could do worldwide for 3-5 more years. Maybe even more. :C

I've actually had the opportunity to meet a few people in the community before, but passed up on it because who wants to drive an hour to meet someone over the internet? But hey, you never know the future.

In terms of a convention---the best bet would be a planned meetup at a predetermined convention, such as minecon or PAX(I forget how you get tickets to pax, so maybe not). Organizing an international community meeting without a predetermined convention wouldn't have much outcome

Would be nice to go to a Blocktopia Convention, no matter how small.

Heck, if we did it this year (hopefully before November, but I doubt I'll be able to afford a trip to Florida), it would be my first convention, considering I've yet to go to one.

If it ends up being set up in Ohio, I could definitely go. Hell, I would set it up if I knew the right people.

As people have previously mentioned, the main problem would be the fact that majority of the community is less than the age of 18, so they wouldn't really be able to travel cross country or internationally.

Still, the thought of it is purely awesome.
