Do you like giving your opinion? Then this is the thread for you!
We're interested in creating a Blocktopia server that people will find enjoyable for a long time and want to be apart of, that's also like no other! The best way we can ensure this is hearing it straight from you guys and what you think will be fun. The above link is just so you can provide suggestions on what you'd be interested seeing, so go crazy!
Please note we are looking for a few things specifically:
  • We're aiming for new "things", straying away from the past 2 TNT Wars servers. Given how our possibilities for growth expands with each big update, there is lots of room to be creative with possible weapon ideas.
  • Speaking of weapons, this time we want a "comical violence" sense which means lots of BOOM BOOM BOOM factors. The last server focused a lot on precision fighting so this time around we're looking for easier and more adaptable items.
  • These servers have always been PvP with a twist so we're looking for aspects to keep it that way. We're open to any funny/creative gameplay elements that you have. This can include suggesting new gametypes or make improvements to the old ones you've already seen.
  • Finally, think outside the box! Your idea could be used and you might see it in the next server!
To answer those FAQ:
Yes, development has already begun and YES, UltimateBudgie is our super-all time-amazing-fantastically-awesome dev. such dev wow much love
Also with a special thanks to Malcovent for the pretty link.

Pretty straight forward but as always: if you have questions or need clarification, you are more then welcome to ask.
Thanks in advance!

Gameplay:
How about a situation where the gameplay is indirectly PvP that includes Mobs?
For instance. Imagine being in a circular room with no way in or out. And then within that room there's another circular room where mobs spawn (There's no way in or out of that room either). Then there are open spaces in the walls where players can aim their weapons through and start attacking the mobs. The mobs in this case are defenseless so it's like open season for a team to attack, but the team is protected from the mobs with a wall in between them.
What I'm saying is that this is a contained environment where the Blue team gets to attack a mob in one building whilst the Red team attacks a mob in another building. Essentially, it's a gameplay of which team can kill a certain amount of mobs the fastest or having a higher kill rate within a minute without being overtaken by the other team who can "steal" your mob. I kind of see this as a training ground for players to hone their aiming skills.

Three Little Pigs vs Big Bad Wolf:
- One team has building capabilities whilst the other team has an amplified weapon that can destroy things twice it's normal rate.
- Or maybe one or two players (a percentage of players?) has that amplified weapon and then the rest are weaponless and have to run/build/hide. It's kind of zombie-ish.

Is it possible to use animals during gameplay? It would be funny to see some players riding on pigs and throwing tnt at you. But make it so that players can't dismount the animal that they're riding on.

I think it needs more novelty, and more customisability.
For example, you might be able to buy a pair of boots that let you jump a decent height, but each jump counts as a use (or something). Also, nukesnukesnukesnukesnukesnukesnukesnukes. More of the inefficient weapons could be fun. I remember airstrikes being a lot of fun.

Personally I loved Classic TNT (yes I did play on it a little but never or involved with the community) I loved how you could breakout blocks which really led to how you entered each battle differently. Like in one map digging under enemy lines might be the key or maybe digging around a hazard etc... Thoughts?

Well, the original inspiration for this new "style" of server is the Worms series and their ridiculous weapons.
However, TeamFortress is definitely a good source of inspiration too! Really, I wouldn't mind if we directly ripped ideas but made them more minecrafty... same goes for Worms!

Yes, there were plans for exploding sheep from quite a while back ;)

We'll definitely want mob-oriented rounds... especially for when the server isn't that full. It'd be fun to experiment with mobs that have all sorts of weird boosts and behaviours :)
Also, your second gamemode idea is definitely on the right track for what we are looking for. It will cause interesting gameplay and different styles of fun.

We definitely could add the ability to (almost) insta-break blocks in order to make more use of the terrain, depending on the general opinion. I personally like the idea. I feel it could lead to more shenanigans and chaos!

Item Ideas:
Nuka Rockets (Would fire from "Nuka Launcher" (a fancy bow), but it shoots things like nuka cola, gives "rads" (poison) and does 2 hearts damage)
Meatloaf (eating it gives you poison, +food, BUT gives you power, what level you should decide since I don't know a whole lot about the server yet ;) )
Original (Rocket launcher akin to the original rocket launcher from TNT V1, of course most likely with a bow)
Coffee (Gives you ++speed, -power)
Second Banana (Reskin of possibly potato or something, would give +++jump ++speed -power)

I'll come up with more later!

Oh god yes, Worms meets Minecraft is the best thing ever.

I demand a Holy Hand Grenade (you can name it differently, of course). For those who don't know what it is, the Holy Hand Grenade was a small grenade that made a BIG BOOM, but you only had one per round, I think.

Also, concrete donkeys - you'd click somewhere and then ten blocks above a donkey would appear and fall down, causing lots of damage whoever would be under it. A bit like vanilla minecraft anvils, only with a bit larger range and damage.

And that also made me think of anvils as weapons.

I may or may not come back with more suggestions, depending on how creative I'm feeling.

The idea of an anvil dropping on people brings me back to my Looney Tunes days.. nice suggestion.

What about a round where there a two towers/houses/bases and two teams. Each team would have to destroy the the other teams tower/house/base by blowing so many blocks up in the base whilst defending their own. (Not that great of an idea but Meh)

Also would it be possible for only mod type rounds come up when there is only one player on? This would of meant I would of played tnt alot more on premium tnt.

List of suggestions.
  • Snow golems as automatic cannons
  • Snowball fight gamemode. Players are given shovels and two stacks of snowballs to begin. Weather is set to rain (in a snow-supporting biome). Snowballs take away 2 hearts of health after armour is destroyed. Killed players watch from team-segregated benches. (Could be used as a tournament mode/FFA variant)
  • Non-team-aligned iron golems which spawn infrequently and randomly. Gives a certain amount of points to the player dealing the final blow, with an 18% chance of releasing a swarm of silverfish.
  • Fireworks able to be aimed as rockets (think TNT Classic)
  • Snowbomb rounds (snow block replaces tnt/tnt explodes 8+ snowballs in pseudorandom directions)

Wasnt there a suggestion about exploding donkeys?
There is a exploding sheep mod in fact :D
There was a cannon that shot sheep in PTNT test version :D It didn't do anything though.

Now, what I think is that what will bring TNT back isn't some fancy new game mode or new weapon. We need to refine/bring back old weapons and game modes.
  • Bring back old weapons, like the rocket, mortar, and pistol.
  • Make points more easily obtainable. Increase the points given for leaderboard and give the losing team end of round points too. This will make weapons more accessible, instead of you always having to worry about your point balance.
  • Halve round time. A lot of the time, rounds become a drag. For payload, increase cart speed.
  • Double score gained for the losing team. Some rounds just become a one sided fight, a point farm or dying spree. Those are boring, make rounds more even so one team isn't just getting stomped.
  • Remove player versus mob. The rounds are boring, or just a point farm.
  • Add some sort of map "lynching" system. There were maps which players just didn't like, and when they came around people just left.
  • Remove the clutter of bows/swords. (from ryandodd).

Or just a map vote :p
