Classic Server Week! [An Event Idea]

Dear whomever this may concern, this is a suggestion/idea for an event for Blocktopia. This may or may not happen, hence it is called an idea.

Hello beautiful community of Blocktopia, I *kingdion* have come with a suggestion that some may love and some may hate!

Classic Server Week (or day)

Close to everybody remembers the joyful Classic servers, the servers that kept them playing Minecraft and that allowed players to enjoy their time - in a whole new game! Sadly, these servers went down because they weren't being played enough!

From experience, I can see that a lot of us miss these amazing servers and experiences that have a special spark in our hearts and I would personally love to embark on the adventure.

This will also allow players that have never played the amazing Classic servers a chance to enjoy the fundamental piece to our community.

I propose that we bring back the Classic servers (if possible) for a duration of time. (weeks, days, months... or forever! :3)

This will include the following;

* Blocktopia/TheOne's Zombie Survival
* Blocktopia/TheOne's Lava Survival
* Blocktopia/TheOne's TNT Wars
- possibly the build server?


*I understand if this is not possible as we may not have the appropriate files/funding!*

I would certainly enjoy playing the classic servers for a day, but I fear it would be very much work for just a day or two :L

Also, java makes classic not work properly for me.

That's why I suggested more of a week or so, but yes, I understand your concern.
Java made most players' Classic derp, I just use WoM and it works fine.

Classic is broken. Like... broken broken. Heartbeat servers are borked, and Mojang has no desire to fix them. It's a nice idea, but it's just not possible.

There is only 76 Classic servers on MC list struggling every day to survive.

i think that's not really possible since the types of classic maps divers from the normal minecraft maps :/

It's possible to transfer the classic maps to premium, it just takes some work.

There actually is a client, Classicube, which can host servers, that has been released by AndrewPH recently. Not sure if that might help. I'm personally not a fan of it though, but here's the link:

Plus, there's a new version of xwom as well. If ex-classic players have uninstalled their xwom they might find some difficulties accessing the xwom page to download the updated version (some). The updated xwom version is needed because the old version had some login issues again. I could provide the file link, if needed though.

Just putting this out, wouldn't it be more manageable if it was a classic server for each day? As in: Monday - TNT, Tuesday - Lava Survival, Wednesday - Zombie, Thur - Build server((????)).

Eh, some players might not be able to make it on certain days.

The same counter argument would be some players might not be able to make it on the day they are all open.

If this were to happen, asking the admins to suddenly open three ((or four???)) servers on the same day for an event absurd. That means more resources needed or having less to spread out. /If/ such a Classic ((constantly seeing the word nostalgia all during that week)) Week were to happen, the admins need to be able to supervise each of them without TOO MANY DISCREPANCIES, the best probable method would be a day each for the best organization.

Sorry for the late response..
I like your idea Trap, it'd be probably work out better and would allow ease in management.

However, since Heartbeat servers were demolished there is close to no way of bringing it back.

Yes, McEdit can convert *some* old classic maps to premium. I've had some success with converting Zombie's maps to a premium .dat. Some work great. Others don't.
