MC players attitude...

Just wondering one thing. Haven't been playing Survival online for several months and at least not on Blocktopia DoD (i liked Build Box more).

The reason why i'm asking here is, are really most of people in MC bastards who go for the kill the very instant they see you? I got killed like 3 times in 2 days while i was pretty much minding my own business in my tree garden, chopping the wood and building my house. Some guy runs around in shiny armor with giant sword and bam, i lost all my resources because he decided to just kill me. Easy kill if you're not even planning to attack back and i even had no armor at all because i was pretty much starting to build something.

The other one was when i set to a longer journey to almost other side of the map, with a boat just to find out i picked up a bit too much resources along the way to there and instead of tossing them away into the sea, i was kind enough (and stupid enough) to visit a nearby house and drop those excess resources into the chest. Just dropped the goods and went ahead. At that time the owner of the house arrived just when i was like 50m away with my boat. Since i'm apparently too naive, i went back and tried to tell him that i just dropped the goods in his chest so they won't be wasted and he just slayed me for basically no reason at all. Hello!? If i wanted to grief or steal, would i come back or just run away as fast as i could? God, when will people learn to ask first and kill later? It's not a rocket science, you open the talk menu and you type letterz and shit yo. Next time i'll just toss everything straight into the sea. Lesson learned. Being nice is not the way to go anywhere apparently.

I had several visitors in my house and i haven't attacked anyone. I did observe them what they were doing, but that was it. I even gave one new player some stone tools because i know how long it takes to make the whole resources gathering a smooth operation.

Am i stupid here or are they? Or am i just too naive to think being nice is the way to go. Apparently the best way to go is to get the biggest armor and weapons and roam the map and go for the kills and steal peoples resources this way. Because stealing from houses is crime but slaying someone for no reason and take their resources, that is fine. Ugh? I'm just confused...

Well it's all about the individual; some people like to play Minecraft in different ways than others, and then people clash. For example, some people, like yourself, like to be peaceful and work with others, whereas some people like to be raiders and pvp. Just try to get used to who likes to kill and stay away from them. Nobody is being stupid, it's just people have different ways of playing the game. :)

Why I come off somewhat asshole-ish here is that it seems you've done nothing to do anything about the PvPers rather than bitch and complain.

Honestly, it is a PvP server for the most part, and people can attack you as they please. I don't PvP because I'm horrible at it, but so far I haven't been attacked by a single person I've come across, which are few and far in between my travels. You just have to be careful when you explore, just like PvP'ers have to be careful so they can get the jump on their target before vice versa. Most people are respectful and civilized with PvP, and I know of few that will outright ambush someone, and usually those who do are forced into the limelight for everyone else to look out for.

tl;dr: It's unreasonable to think that no one should take advantage of one of the major characteristics of the Smp server -- PvP. Just be careful and understand that you're probably not alone.

I guess I'll have to explain all of my reasoning (people love to jump to conclusions.) First off, let's review whats happened. RejZoR (you) is angry about Dusk of Discordia because he was killed by someone more strong and geared then him (ultimately.) So he therefore thought it was unfair. However, we've already strayed away from one of the main points of the server, PVP.

No one likes being killed, it's annoying. But for christ sake, it's a server where PVP is allowed and if someone kills you for absolutely no reason, it's their choice - nothing at all we can do about it because it is one the points of the server. Does it make them an asshole? Maybe? But for the fact it's a main factor in the server, I'm going to say no.

But for attitude? The only one I see with attitude here is you. The people are playing the server how it is meant to be played and you tell them to fuck off after you get killed. Then you go off and complain about their attitude, hence my anger and frustration.

This is a PvP server, and that kinda defeats any ideas of living peacefully by yourself :/
I suggest you join with a good, strong, town! Towns have nice a community (usually ) and PvP protection if its an official town

The trick is to keep out of the light for the most part; I usually just trot about with a sharp I iron sword and a couple of broken pieces of mob armour, a couple of invis pot I made if things get icky.

I understand why people PVP, but when you're just getting people that have absolutely nothing just to be a jerk, it's just stupid. I have to agree with some aspect.
Yes it is PVP server, however people need to use their common sense in some cases.
On this release i have not had any issues my self which i guess is luck.
However PVP orientated people do need to learn that not everyone wants an arrow between the eyes , or a diamond sword to the back.

EDIT: Take this as offensively if you want, but its the truth. If you want to play in blocktopia and not fight, just build, we have a server for that.

Certain people play certain ways. if you don't like it, then don't play.
There are plenty of servers where pvp is illegal. And while killjoys (see what i did there?) can be annoying, its part of the game. but, finding an area to actually be safe can be hard. i had a house near the edge of the map and was killed. but i dealt with the fact that im terrible at pvp by finding another server.

RejZoR had an entirely valid point to bring up, as a member of the community, his displeasure is not something we strive for. However, Discordia is a full pvp server, and that will not be changed. Which was addressed in my first post.

Which means every post here is pretty much a rehash of what I already said, or someone being rude towards a new member. The first of which I just personally view as silly, the second of which I straight out don't like.

RejZoR I am sorry your current experiences on discorida has been less than desirable. Not all people go after new players with nothing on them, and while I personally view that as a pretty jerkish move, there are no rules against it. I must warn you, acting the way you did in those logs posted doesn't fly in blocktopia. So please don't do so on my servers.

To people who can not discern between a helpful and straight up rude post: Get out of the "If you don't understand how we do SMP then FUCK YOU" mentality. It's embarrassing. I do not ask everyone hold hands, be friends, and sing kumbaya around the fireplace, but show some common respect for people you don't know and have never truly met.

But to answer your question. The thing is, most of the Minecraft community is actually worse than what you see here, I believe. If you step foot on a factions server you will see spammers, advertisers, backstabbers left and right, heavy and careless PVPers and it makes for an extremely unenjoyable experience for some. The thing is, all servers are plagued with these things, some moreso than others. And yes. DoD has spammers, advertisers (though we do deal with them), backstabbers which is going to happen, and heavy/careless PVPers which is also going to happen. I've played all these roles on at least some server and they're fun when you're doing it, but not so fun for anyone else.

When a person plays a game they play to make themselves happy, to play with friends, to enjoy themself. That's what some do, whether their goal is to antagonize or succeed through PVP, or just build alone and make something really nice. So if it is possible, it's going to happen. So yes, the community is like that in an uncontrolled environment.

If you do want to avoid the PVP, I recommend you live in a remote area, get enough money to make a village where you want to stay, be friendly to everyone and not get involved in disputes or arguments - and also be nice, the opposite of what those logs showed. There's plenty of ways, most people will want to stay friendly. And most people will not target you if you don't wear armor or show that you are unarmed, and of course some won't but that is going to happen. But you can never always win, so yes - in some form or another, you may just have to deal with it sometimes.

And at everyone else, he clearly spent time making this thread, and that is what he tried to do. Don't bash him, if anything give him tips, answer his actual question or just don't even post. If he's making a thread about people being unwelcoming and rude and you ARE rude, that's a terrible way to respond. Stay classy.

Because of this thread, and the responses in it, I'm feeling obliged to come back to DoD, even after dying to someone in full diamond armor. You know who I'm talking about. Yes, I'm talking to you, sir. Not you, Rej, this man right here.

I've thought of some ways to go around the PvP bastards, but is somewhat cowardly. Still, it would be nice to have some sort of way to actually enjoy Minecraft again.

If I can give it another chance, Rej, I hope you can give it one, too. <3
