Gif? or Jif?

This has to be settled. Wars have been fought, comments have raged, and many.....many "gifs" have been created. The creator of the word "gif" has said that it's pronounced "jif", but others are still denying the fact. I want to let our community decide, considering we are the internet. It is time that Blocktopia has found the answer of which pronunciation of "gif" is correct. Is it "Gif" or "Jif"? Post what you think it is and why. I'll list all of the reasons below.

It also doesn't help that almost everything is pronouced differently everywhere, anyway... And we still feel the need to correct people. :,<

But yeah, I'm a weird case in which I go back and forth between the two, regardless of which is the more correct.

Conventions of the english language dictate that you would pronounce it jif. However, it isn't an english word, it's an acronym.
