You know, the rules really made me happy by stating there'd be no possibility of a No Lynch, and now we're still going to have that option, if only for Day 1. Thanks again for that, Kake. But I'm glad to see that my speeches from the previous games have left their mark and most seem to at least consider a lynch.
What I'm not glad to see is this thoughtless back and forth. I keep hoping for the day when Hunter actually settles down and stops causing chaos everywhere he goes. Evidently, today is not that day. I'm not too suspicious of him, either, since it's the way he's always played and I've never considered playstyle to be something to lynch over. Which, of course, means that I'll have to be extra careful with those that have a peculiar playstyle, since suspicious activity might slip past me when I write it off as someone's own unique playstyle.
Alpha is, without doubt, the greatest surprise so far. I find it hard to believe that he'd hardclaim Alien so easily right at the beginning of Day 1, especially with all this talk about being cornered into making the claim and whatnot. Honestly, I would've expected you to put up more of a fight before claiming, since if you really are what you claim you are, you must know that people will come after you the moment you claim a third party so early. That line of thought would also mean that the logical thing to do would be to claim some town PR, as to avoid an angry mob behind your door.
The thing is, the only situation where I see the course of action that Alpha took justified, is the one where he's mafia and claims Alien right away after accidentally making a dangerous soft claim, in a gambit to be able to convince some people, that what he's telling is the truth, simply with the sheer boldness of his move. No scum in their right mind would willingly draw that much attention on them, so he must be telling the truth, right?
I understand that this is pretty heavy speculation, but it's the closest thing to a plausible theory I can think of at the moment. In any case, I agree with Jk on that I wouldn't trust anything Alpha says at this point.

Agreed, it is surprising to see Alpha hardclaim alien, a third-party role, so willingly. It's so unlike Alpha, and the claim was so bland as well with such little explanation rather than somewhat nonchalant-feeling posts afterwards to questions of said role (though I'm sure people already have a rough idea what the
traditional alien role does....
Which is exactly why I don't think Alphas claim was real.
Of course I don't exactly agree on it being a so-bold is must be true, Mafia cover-up.
Rather there's a few others that spring to mind when I see this case.
This frankly smells so much of fakery it reminds me somewhat of the Jivvi-situation back during Trouble in the Wild West, back when he claimed "Mad Mike" in order to cover-up for his true role as the cop. And though I don't remember whether that was a third-party (like in this case with alien) or town claim of being a bomb, I feel like it could relate to this case of a possible pro-town person being attacked, and in order to quickly stop suspicion (even though it often doesn't work) they claim something more neutral and not as important (like the Alien).
This of course is the Alpha is an awesome townie theory.

Then there's the case of him being scum as you stated.

But frankly, I'm mostly inclined to believe neither the good nor the scum theories because I still feel like Alpha's affiliation is still rather up-in-the-airs at the moment, just like basically all of us currently are.
The claim feels too forced and strange really.
How did we get to the point of Alpha claiming Alien?
What happened before that?
Why are we talking about this situation now?
As far as I can see we only got this far due to a random claim by Hunter (somewhat myuser but not really him at the same time) who randomly stated Alpha was claiming to be amnesiac and to "beware" after all Alpha said at the beginning of the game:
Which isn't even really any information we can use at the moment or give concrete thought into.
We don't even know if Alpha was joking, I mean it
was(and still is) the beginning of the game. This is often a bit of a joke day. I know I tend to be
really joke-y on Day Zero's. (I know it's day 1 but since we started in the day I call it day 0 mmk)
And then we ended up getting into a bunch of vague statements by Alpha after being pushed by Defiant and Hunter, which isn't much to go on either.
It feels more like we dug ourselves down into a rabbit hole of bad information and lies, and I'm more inclined to not trust anything Alpha has said up to this point... but also not to feel like he's scummy at this point in time and worth a lynch.
...
Then again he could just be Alien after all this time.
I mean c'mon, the game IS called
To be Defined.
Aliens from elsewhere in the universe certainly have been defined yet... we haven't even met one! (that we know of... >_> <_<)
Or we're all just crazy.
I like to think that's the true moral of this story.
