Now, being a guy who naturally doesn't mind being surrounded by a plethora of the same theme, I don't really agree with her opinion.

It's a bit like the Jehovah's Witnesses, who drive around the nieghborhood, knocking doors and asking people if the missionaries could speak with the civilians about Jesus.
Most everyone is either already religious or isn't religious, and either way, they most likely are too busy or apathetic to actually say "Yes".
So, whether you're a brony, an avid Christian, a homosexual, a Nihilist, or an Atheist, don't hop around every forum, town, hat, community, Facebook page, etc. just to say "Hey, look at me, I'm a _____!". Usually, you're just ASKING for an uncurteous, rude, or disagreeing person to pipe up and say "You're stupid because _____ and ______" or "You're evil because _____ and _____".
