That's the sad part, because this community used to be golden, but now it's in the bronze area of things... I am quite sad that this community has decided to go all out and advertise and do it's best to get new players to make it a whole bigger community. I like homey communities, not big ones, if this gets too big, I may end up leaving due to no longer being the server I once knew. Can I just say, that this community will end up looking like the minecraft server "mcbrawl", which is something I would hate to see. I just think we need a total recall of the whole server to be redone in Classic Mincraft look and format. Oh and new rules concerning the cussing factor.

Cussing in every chat message doesn't make this a friendly community, but quite the opposite, a non-friendly community... I'm actually not quite sure what makes you guys think that cussing makes this place a friendly server.

Btw, this thread also makes me think of the Revolutionary War. The British against the Rebels of America. We are the Classic Patriots (you know what, we could turn that into an actual thing!). I hereby declare myself an Proud Patriot of Classic TNT and Scottish Kilt!!!

I'd say if the 'cussing' isn't aimed at anyone there really isn't a problem with it. Sure, some people get offended, but way too many people are offended by more or less anything. The fact of the matter is, a decent amount of people aren't going to shake off their speaking/typing habits just because someone finds it mildly unpleasant.

EDIT: Side note, 'cussing' can sometimes be seen as a sign of being comfortable around people, as someone that 'cusses' often may hide that in the presence of unfamiliar people.

EDIT2: I realise this isn't 4chan so not everyone will survive mild offense. RIP parquette.

Like I stated, I'm not the only person. There are many other people out there that hate that sort of thing. And what does it gain you anyway? Upset people because cussing in the chat just makes the place less friendly and even worse. As an additional note, I didn't say it had to be addressed, but it also shows the player reading someone else's chat what kind of person they are. And I don't really care if this is the Internet or not, even people on the Internet need to have a little bit of respect for others that may be hugely offended by that sort of thing.

Note above I stated that people may take it as offensive (myself included) and vulgar, and that it would make the place less friendly. People can judge whether they like this community merely by the people that play it. Think about it. Do you think that people that are offended by other people's vocabulary will want to play with those people? We have to be courteous of others as most people will say, and cussing whenever we want to isn't part of that.

Now this is getting a little off topic, so back to the Classic. TNT and Scottish Kilt were the best things in Minecraft for me at the time, and I still think they are. I (along with others) will be a little upset if the community is totally changed from what it used to be, and a lot of us may leave. We are worried about the declination of player activity, and if this server heads to a direction of Fame, Money, and Hugeness, you still will lose players. There is no denying that.

while i think its best to aim for a smaller, homier community, i can guarantee reverting back to minecraft would leave a lot of people pissed off, me included.

id like to mention that saying "we need to advertise and have original ideas" is so much easier than doing it. we've been saying that for years, and sticking to that plan of action to save the community is just going to make it crash and burn.

ps: there's a big difference between someone casually swearing, and someone saying fuck every other sentence because it's the internet and their parents would ground them if they said it out loud. Im sure this community holds both, but please dont confuse the two.

What if their parents caught them writing it? They would still get grounded right? There is hardly any difference in typing out the f word for example, instead of saying it. Their parents wouldn't agree with it either way, and just because this is the Internet is doesn't mean people can do whatever they want. Should someone on the Internet send someone an email with a life threat towards them? Should someone say "I hate you, and I'm going to kill you and destroy your home!" just because it is the Internet? I know people reading this will say "But Par, there is a difference between sending someone a life threat and cussing your rear off!". That was just an example of things we shouldn't do because it is the Internet. My point is, should we do things on the Internet just because we feel like it? I can offend someone online, and their feelings will still be about just as hurt as if they were told it in real life. We need to think of other people, and not ourselves all the time.

With that said, we need to get this back on track. Concerning the advertising and original ideas factor, can I just say that we shouldn't get all hyped up for another TNT server by being told about it hundreds of times saying "we will do it eventually" and then just not doing it. TNT has been closed for 2 or 3 years and it has never come up, with promises of "we're doing it! It should be up soon!" and nothing happens. I personally just think we need a totally new server, that is solely based on the Classic Blocktopia, and has Classic Based BuildBox or something to submit maps or build for fun. TNT Classic and BuildBox Classic would be fun and you would have a lot of fans! I remember going to the old TNT Classic with Naoh and finding at least 30 or some big number people there, and they were all friendly!

Man why am I coming up with these long speeches when I intend to make a paragraph long answer?!

you missed my point about swearing.

There is a difference, both online and in real life, about casually swearing and excessively swearing. casually saying fuck in the middle of your sentence(eg "that sucked" vs "that fucking sucked") shouldn't be an issue. its the people who, as you were saying, swear every other sentence who are actually an issue. excessive swearing has always been against the rules in the community, and casually swearing has never been against the rules.

didnt say anything about people being able to do more stuff because its the internet, i said that the reason people swear every other sentence is because its the internet, and they know their parents wont punish them for it.

So how exactly won't they get punished by their parents if the parents catch them in the middle of the act? Parents have full control over their children.

And btw, as someone once said. "Archeology is the search for Fact... not Truth..."
Same here. Can we please steer this back towards the original issue at hand?

And I don't really want to debate anymore over cussing.

the shittiest point is the easiest to refute.
how is getting rid of 'naughty words' and word-policing going to pull the community back to a large playerbase? you're shoehorning your opinions on a completely different topic into this.
Yes, really.

Quit it before I find a way to ban you into oblivion.

Quit what? He's posting reams of complaints and isn't offering any valid solutions, resulting to being prolix just for the sake of padding out his flawed argument of "maybe if we're nice" into something that can even pretend to be a valid contribution to the thread.

Also, find a way?
I'm sure a staff-member of your calibre wouldn't actively search for a reason to ban a user because of a personal dislike.

asked me a question but say you don't want to discuss it anymore

???

most parents dont watch their kids 24/7, and most parents especially dont stare over their kids shoulder when they're on the computer. it's easier to hear your kid say something than watch them type it.

if you want to drop this conversation, im really ok with that, but dont leave it on a question.

I should have made a point then ended. Sorry about that :(
But yes, most kids don't have their parents looking over their shoulder. I'm just saying that if their was more friendly chat, this would be a happier place. But words like the f and s words are the ones I'm mostly concerned about. Along with saying Jesus's name harshly in situations like "What the heck man?! Like (here is where the Jesus' name is misused) why?!" is also inappropriate. I'm just trying to help the community.
