Addressing the decline of EscapeRestart/Blocktopia.

I doubt that this community would be returning back to an all exclusive Minecraft community, but four of the seven servers that this community has right now are Minecraft based and I think it would be best to work on actually promoting EscapeRestart through forums related to Minecraft (W.I.P) first since I have no idea how or where to promote TTT, CS-GO, and Starbound. (If anyone has any ideas about that then feel free to mention it!).

So many things to say about this right now... and this is just my opinion so take it as you wish.. and bulletpoints because I like them.
  • One reason why this community hasn't been seeing much player activity within the past year is that it hasn't been promoted through other channels as much as it should have been
  • And to the players talking about the Classic servers (TNT, especially Zombie (Infection))-- One thing that I saw with those two resurrected servers was that it seemed like it was catered toward the classic players at first, which is fine, but most of the classic players that were still in the community didn't stay on those servers for long. And yeah, it would be great to relive those Classic server moments, but seeing as those two servers didn't pan out it probably wouldn't be wise to focus on resurrecting them again unless it's game changing.
  • And to add to what I just said above-- There are so many other Minecraft game modes on other servers out there that already included things that dealt with TNT or Zombies that were, suffice to say, a bit more fun than what TNT or Infection had going on. BUT this isn't a dig at the developers and staff who made TNT and Infection because I'm certain that it was hard to develop and come up with content for the respective servers. It's just that the content that we had at the time didn't seem like it attracted the new player who never experienced Classic. And to be honest, it seems like the newer players on Minecraft would rather prefer instant gratification than having to wait awhile just to win or lose a game.
  • By instant gratification - I see it as a player that wants to gain points, upgrades, and achievements that would make them better than a new player coming in the game. Also, I think that these players would rather have a simple quick game instead of having to wait for awhile for the game to end. I think this is where the EscapeRestart Minecraft servers lack and could, if possible, be something to focus on if there are ever any new Minecraft servers in the works for ER.
Advertising
Hopefully we can get Advertising up and running ASAP (hopefully before the month ends) because I really want to see if this will work for the community. And by this I mean not using money but spending time in creating content that can be used to advertise this server among other forums and to basically get more hits on Google! Seriously, look up EscapeRestart and things related to our server names.

But yes, most kids don't have their parents looking over their shoulder. I'm just saying that if their was more friendly chat, this would be a happier place. But words like the f and s words are the ones I'm mostly concerned about. Along with saying Jesus's name harshly in situations like "What the heck man?! Like (here is where the Jesus' name is misused) why?!" is also inappropriate. I'm just trying to help the community.

I think your view of helping the community in this regard is so that you avoid being offended personally. I'm not overtly religious but I really don't care when people say Jesus' name or swear. Sounds like you're pursuing some personal interests.

It isn't really personal. I am not the only one has this belief, there are others that have the same thoughts as I do. And yes, back to the subject at hand, because this got way off. And Jub, stop.

I think everyone here has their own opinion, it's just the matter if we would like to voice it out or not.

This kind of thread has already been appearing now and again on the forums in some way or another about the server not improving, the server dying, et cetera. I'm not very active here, but I've already come to notice that some time ago.

I'm very sure that all those who have read the thread title, or even have played on the servers alone will have their own opinion. Everyone of us would know truly if the server would wilt soon or not.

I think if you really wanted the majority of the community to voice up their thoughts, it would be a good idea to give others a chance to do so, being by keeping the hostility in this thread down, and toning down the arguments, after all, I think all of us would somehow or another want a more constructive and meaningful discussion.

Additionally, I would like to add on that I can see a lot of work done behind-the-scenes by various people to keep the server alive and trying to make it prosper. The community administrators creating an advertising team, server administrators offering last calls always to transfer plots or to implement new mobs to make the game better, moderators resolving conflicts and keeping the servers friendly, and players contributing their ideas to improve the existing servers. Even this thread is a suggestion, a piece of work done by the community in hope to improve the server and let it prosper. The evidence is all around you.

Everyone does something with a purpose, my purpose here is to persuade everyone to turn this thread into a more constructive platform for the community to voice their thoughts, and stop beating around the bush.

I certainly hope for a better discussion. Good or bad, you decide.
