This is how ridiculous things can get with a c4 expert in the house.

I posted this in the IRC fails thread a few days ago. This is an example of how much one can use c4 as an offensive weapon.
Now, my suggestion is: change it so that c4 has an arming time of perhaps one second. This prevents the /d spam somewhat, while still keeping it as a viable trap weapon for places such as cannons and capture points. If this has been suggested before, I apologize, as I mustn't have searched enough then.

According to the timestamp, c4 was used three times in one second.

the idea:

you place a c4, the c4 cannot be detonated with /d until one second has passed from placing it. Much like the prox mine arming time. which prevents it being able to kill people instantly when being placed. Similar to the problem this is trying to solve.

Well actually. I don't see why c4 is being changed. it was changed from 8 points ( I think ) to 12 because it was being easily used, and now you want to raise it again? I know I'm saying this since I use c4 a lot, but I find it kind of unfair that only c4s are being changed, and not pistols, rockets, mortars, etc.

This would render a standard-radius C4 mostly useless. I'm pretty sure the radius +1 upgrade is responsible for the recent enthusiasm and if that isn't the case, using C4 against an experienced player is still the less prefered way of taking them out (looking at rocket here). And as aperson said, 12 points is still fairly high of a price already. Taking out radius +1 should accrue a loss of points due to less double kills etc. and increase the skill it takes to use the C4. Also, when considering to overhaul weapons, it's always bad to only take into account one weapon (apparently the most obvious through IRC) and leave out the rest, which, I think, have plenty of room for changes.

As always, stating my C4 preference, because I don't want my point to be transparent. Not.

Upon further thought, I think Myst has a point here. I myself am very used to the radius+1 upgrade and as a result tend to forget I even have it. Without the upgrade, c4 really isn't too overpowered.

But, though I am very biased, I don't think we should remove the upgrade altogether, especially since the radius+1 rocket is equally strong and roughly the same price (upgrade-wise).

This suggestion keeps the price the same. I could see them going back down to /perhaps/ 10 points again if this were implemented.

Inon summed it up nicely. Plus, I mean that everything stays the same except the time you are allowed to type /d in.
