Early-Mid 2011. Blocktopia was starting to fully move into offering a permanent SMP server. And what you see above is the spawn of one of our first permament servers.

If you remember this, you will soon have a chance to re-visit this map.

For a one-time Nostalgia event.

Because as you know: We love you longtime.

(huge thanks to @The Phantom for converting and preparing the map, you sexy beast! Details as to when the server is open will be announced separately)

Aww yiss! Also, I took some time to photograph some (remember, some!) of the most memorable parts of the server while you all wait/refresh your memories. Enjoy!

I would also like to thank @X_x for hanging on to the save file for so long-- turns out he was the only one who had a copy after we shut down, so without him, technically none of this would be possible. Thanks, buddy.

First stop, a closeup of the server spawn! The incomplete building you see is (was) the railroad station, which had track access underground.

Spawn station. This was before powered rails/minecarts, so we used a special plugin that allowed us to create stations, cart spawns, and powered rails. From what I recall, it worked better than what we have now!

Speaking of railroads, this server had a very impressive rail network built by the players themselves. Every major town/point on the map could be reached by rail and, more incredibly, a majority of it was laid by hand.

Think Topians are all that? Bitch, I got Minecoins. Get on my level.

The server's economy was pretty simple, and not too far off from what you still see on many servers today.

And now for towns! First up is the legendary town of Aval, which surprisingly wasn't on fire when I arrived.

The abandoned town of Honeydew (I think that's the name?), run by Bea-- I'm not sure if she's still around, but I still remember her.

And who could forget Silvervale? @LISTINGS09 managed to create/run an empire so vast and prosperous that they started using diamond blocks as casual ornamentation. In fact, it was very common for new users to automatically join Silvervale! Frankly, I don't blame them.

@IntensiK

@Yuck's amazing town and even-more-amazing collisieum. I still clearly remember when, upon seeing his build, I offered him an infinite amount of resources to aid him in his builds, and he humbly declined! That's right, this entire thing was leveled and built by hand.

Rome, one of the server's very first settlements. @gonkus

My safehouse!

Some parts of the railroad were completely enclosed.

Snochille! @Skittz

And last-but-not-least is GmK's lair, the Misty Mountain! All sorts of fun experiments happened here.

See you all there!

Oh nice! I played this map. It was a great fun.

Waiting to get 'approved' however in order to venture beyond the spawn area was how does one say, 'a bitch' when there was no set system to approval, just 'have you been here long enough? Not caused trouble? Hmm maybe'

Will there be a temp livemap for this?
Maybe you also remember when I fell into the void and you had to backend erase my player.dat because I could not even log in @GmK?

You do see how we stated it will be a temporary event server? So sorry, no, we will not be sending it out as of now ;)
Oh I read that sentence wrong - thought it already hapened during recap and ended ;)

So YAY for SMP 3 map :D

Imma visit Terragon or something ;)

Also I have Primordia map - but without original level.dat file (was broken by spoutcraft) - so no original seed and with spawn in my house.

Yeah, and I still blew up your spawn area by converting it to TNT. 46,000 blocks of TNT detonating simultaneously back then was.. painful. o.e

The video ended for me, already, but I still hear myself talking! :O

Also, lololol, my old desktop. Back when I played RE5 on my PC. :D

Ah, the pre-party boom. Though HyperCam 2.0 back then had horrible video capturing and voice syncing.. So I talk ahead of the video. (Although I don't remember the account password. heh..)
