Anonymity in reporting brings a wide range of issues when it actually comes to dealing with the issue. While it may be seen to make it 'easier' in the short run, those who aim to resolve it are left stranded if they need more information, thus meaning that the report may not be dealt with effectively. If privacy is important within a situation, communication via PM to server staff is a much more reliable and direct reporting method, allowing for 2 way discourse to gain a fuller picture. Holding reports within the forums also makes them much more visible and arguably easier to check/monitor, being able to quickly see if anything has indeed been reported by simply watching the relevant thread. As well as this, by linking reports to accounts, the number of arbitrary and unexplained reports is reduced. You'd be surprised how tedious reading irrational one line reports can get after a while.
