Guardian of Corruption and Nether
ye long post (irc rp)
Cyra blinked as the rock crystal flashed bright orange. She nearly dropped it and shielded her eyes from the light. The light disappeared as fast as it appeared, then Remilia appeared directly in front of her. Cyra stumbled back a step, surprised.
"Remilia!" She exlaimed, not knowing what else to say at the moment.
The black that was her mind flashed a bright, lava orange as she suddenly found herself standing in front of a person. Wait, where was she? She blinked, disorientated for a minute.
"Remillia!" The person in front of her yelled, and she snapped back to attention. Wait, this person was familiar. "Wait... Cyra?" She said, puzzled. Had Cyra summoned her?
Remembering that she had a working brain and mouth, she tried again.
"Yeah, it's me, Cyra. Well I had this red crystal rock thing and then I think Corruption used some sort of green flashy magic and it worked. Then it went all flarey and then you appeared."
She gulped, that was worse than her first try.
Remillia just stared at Cyra for a moment... Was... Was that her attempted at explaining? She failed to stifle a laugh, and nearly jumped as she realized she was both completely recovered and completely solid in this dream.
Remembering how weak she had been, she looked at Cyra again in total confusion. "Why did you use a sleep spell on me?"
"Well first I had no idea it was a sleep spell, I don't even know how that works. Second, I fell asleep and the... uh... things I explained a bit earlier happened. It might have been related to the fact that I've been looking for you."
"You... were looking for me?" Remillia said, surprised. Perhaps she had found Purification? Or maybe even recovered her memory?
Cyra put her hand on the back of her neck, something she does when she's nervous. Realizing her action, she quickly put her hand back down. Then she glanced around the room, just Remilia and Cyra.
"Well yeah. Speaking of which, we found Purification. She's at the crater with Hope, Life, and I. Death was there, but he disappeared into some cliché black mist." Cyra had to roll her eyes at that. "And I had to find you because... stuff that happened... in the past world..."
At the end of her statement, she realized she didn't know which world it was. Did they meet again after the Aether and Nether war? Did anything else happen?
Remillia looked even more surprised for a moment, and then she smiled from ear to ear. Her best friend remembered! For a moment she was overjoyed just at knowing this, but then realized that Cyra was likely referring to the war, and her smile faded.
"Do you mean... THAT time?" She asked, hoping that she was incorrect.
Cyra looked rather embarrased to discuss the topic, seeing that she had caused the entire war and consequences. She sighed. Get right to it, she scolded herself.
"That time as in the time we were friends and the war happened? Yeah." Cyra mentally slapped herself. Stop trying to avoid the topic and accept the blame!
Remillia's expression was immediately grim. She... remembered THAT. That was the last thing Remillia had wanted her former best friend to remember, as she had witnessed first hand the Guardian of the Nether's sudden change of personality.
She bit her lip, then took a deep breath.
That war had been terrible, but Cyra hadn't had much of a part in it. All Cyra had done was witness. So... why was Cyra looking so restless, as if she had something to say?
Guilt was biting and clawing at her. And Remilia is her friend! Or was. Maybe she'll get angry at her. No she'll definitely get angry at her. Why not just avoid talking about the to- No! She must tell Remilia!
"Okay so uh." Cyra started, hesitant to continue.
"Remember how we were friends? Aether, you, and I?" She put her hand on her neck again.
"And my aspect is corruption..." She looked away.
"And... well... my aspect didn't feel like I was doing a good job..."
"and as a result... I..." Her voice started to fail her.
Tears running down her face, Cyra put her face in her hands. She's a monster! How could she do that to her friend!
"...I corrupted you." She finally muttered through her fingers. She braced herself for Remilia's rage and attack, both physical and verbal.
Remillia just looked down. Part of her had already known that; it had used that corruption to it's advantage, after all. And part of her was shocked and a little angry, but soon started to just... feel sorry. Cyra thought it was entirely her own fault for that war.
For a moment, she just stood there, quietly, looking down. "...It's not all your fault," she said quietly, "I guess I should tell you..."
"Haven't you noticed?" She said, staring straight into her friend's green eyes. Cyra had told her the truth, and now it was Remillia's turn.
"What do you mean? It is my fault! I corrupted you, whether accidental or not! This caused the war to happen between the Aether and Nether! So much hatred and confusion between the two realms that balanced each other! I turned two friends against each o-" Cyra paused, taking in what Remilia said. She examined Remilia. Her eyes... are a bit... different...? A different hue of orange?
She seems to be Remilia, but sort of... not Remilia at the same time.
"You noticed just now, didn't you?" She said with a sad smile.
"Who... What... are you? I know you're Remliia... but..." Cyra muttered, unable to continue.
"You had only slightly corrupted me. It was not enough to completely fill me with doubt; it was only enough to make me question my friends. I was weak."
"A small nether demon saw the opportunity. Hungry for power, it acted as if it was my thoughts, and manipulated me."
"I only realized that after it was too late. It had taken complete control of me."
That seemed... logical. Seeing that Cyra didn't corrupt Remilia intentionally, the power may have been weaker. A Nether demon? Should Cyra be glad that part of the blame was lifted off her shoulders?
"But, recently, it's been… changing. It started to feel bad for a while but wouldn’t admit it. When it finally admitted it, it started to try to work with me and ask my opinion on questions nagging at it’s mind. Strange for a demon, I know. It almost feels like we’re becoming one person, which sort of scares me.
"So... you're both Remilia and the demon at the same time?"
Remillia nodded. Her expression had become grim after uttering the last sentence.
The nether crystal started to flare violently, and Remillia let out a yelp as she noticed that parts of her were suddenly disappearing. "What is--" Was all she could manage before she disappeared completely in a flash of orange. She suddenly started to feel herself stir from her sleep, and found herself clenching her teeth in anger.
'No!' She thought to herself, 'I don't want to wake up yet!'
After a few moments of trying to calm her anger, her mind started to swirl, and she awoke to her weak body again.
Cyra started as the rock crystal flared. Instantly, she looked up to Remilia. They shared the same shocked expression. Remilia's waking up! "What is-" She heard Remilia mutter. Cyra wanted to grab her, wanted her to stay. She wanted her friend to stay a bit longer. She reached out, knowing it's futile. The light dimmed, then both Remilia and the rock crystal disappeared.
She woke up, surprised to find tears on her face. Wiping the tears away with her hand, she looked around. Apparently nothing much happened. She told Remilia that Purification was with her. Maybe she'll head this way.
Cyra closed her eyes again, but she knew her mind was too unsettled for sleep now.
