The Guardians of Corruption and Clouds
Finally figuring out how to use clouds effectively for transport, he begins to use one for flight. The ground is mostly dirt, making him wonder if there is even life at all. After a small sum of time, he sees a girl on the ground below him. Interesting. There is life, but what lifeforms? He decides to fly down so he can learn the ways of this world, by talking to her and listening to what she has to say.
Breathless, Cyra slowed down to a walk. Where was she going? No clue. To the cave? Why the cave? Creatures. Maybe. Then a white haired man flew down to the ground from the clouds. She narrowed her eyes. She was exhausted from her earlier use of her aspect. She cannot use her power now. "Move-" She growled, then paused. "Who are you?"
Skri'ik was surprised at the apparent lack of etiquette from this mysterious being. When learning about this world, a lack of friendliness was not what he wanted to hear. He was still willing to co-operate, however. To him, not only was this girl a mystery - but so was this entire world. He answered the girl's question. "Greetings. I am Skri'ik, and I have just awoken on this world. I seek to learn of where this is, and why I am here. Who do you happen to be, and why are you traversing these great wastes of dirt?
Cyra started. Something seemed familiar. Wordy, like Hope- She shook her head. Curious now, she spoke with a friendlier tone. "No one really knows. However, the Guardians here are learning new things every minute. About the past worlds and stuff." Like her ability to corrupt. "Are you a Guardian, too?"
Skri'ik was put more at ease by this girl's slightly friendlier tone. It is possible that she seeks the same thing as he does: knowledge. Eager to trade knowledge, he responded. "I would prefer to withhold that knowledge, but my unfortunate entrance makes it easily possible to deduce my element. I will ask you the same question: Are you a Guardian, girl? And what is your name? I would like to know your name - something to refer to you by." Skri'ik decided to trust this girl, but was careful to not reveal anything that could be figured out easily.
A Guardian of the Clouds eh? She normally would hide her name and element, but seeing how she kind of revealed it with Hope, Life, Purification, and Light, she did not really care anymore. "My name is Cyra. I'm the Guardian of Corruption."
He narrowed his eyes very slightly. Now he knew he could never entirely trust this girl, Cyra. As the element of corruption, her power was to corrupt and bend the mind to the ways of evil. He would have to be ever-more-cautious to prevent that from happening to him. However, he was surprised she revealed not only her name, but her element. Wouldn't it be advantageous to withhold that information? The only reason for revealing that he can think of is that she would want to co-operate. He decided to continue, but more cautiously. "Ah, so your work is to corrupt the mind, Cyra? Tell me, what other guardians have arrived on this patch of dirt?"
She smiled. "Corruption doesn't only work on the mind. Anyways, I've seen several other Guardians. I might not be able to list all of them though. Let's see... Life, Death, Hope, Purification, Light, Nether, Wind, Magic... some others... I think there's a Frost Phoenix, too." "How about yourself? What do you do with clouds?"
He visibly widened his eyes as Cyra spoke. It was clear that Skri'ik had arrived much later than the other guardians had. It appeared he had a lot of knowledge to learn. One thing he was comfortable with was that he had an idea of what to expect. He also confirmed the knowledge of Cyra's power, so there would be no real surprises. He responded to Cyra, putting on an indifferent expression. "If all these other elements have arrived, then I am late to the party. Hopefully I will be able to find these people, and learn from them. As for the clouds - I do not know what you think of them, but when unchecked, they can be a chaotic force. It is my job to keep them in check." He did not know why he was revealing this to the Guardian of Corruption, of all guardians. Hopefully this would help him gain her trust. He was not wholly worried about being corrupted, though he knew that that may backfire on him one day.
Cyra pulled down her hood and looked at the clouds above them. "That's probably true." She laughed. "They're fluffy." Fluffy? Her? The Guardian of Corruption? Thinking silly thoughts like clouds are fluffy? She realized she felt calmer. Huh. Clouds are fluffy.
Fluffy? For the Guardian of Corruption, this is something unusual to think clouds of, Skri'ik thought. He still could not let his guard down, but he responded a bit more calmly, feeling more at ease. Apparently, she was not using her powers on him. He wondered silently if he had gained her trust. Most likely not, though; they had just met. He certainly did not trust her yet, but Cyra did not seem as bad as he would think she would be for Corruption. He decided that his next motive would be to find these other guardians. "I guess that's one way to put it. When the clouds are not chaotic, they are fluffy. Now, after I finish talking with you, I am going to seek these other guardians, and hear what they have to say, just like I have with you. If you have seen any, could you point me in the general direction they were heading?"
Cyra tensed. She should not point Shri'ik to Hope, Life, Light, and Purification right now... after her...corruption thing... uh... yeah. "There are some Guardians at the cave in that direction-" She pointed. "-Actually, I'm heading that way. Do you want to come with me?"
Skri'ik mused. He did not like the thought of travelling with Corruption. There was a considerable risk of becoming corrupted along the way, even if this girl named Cyra seemed friendly enough. However, he realistically knew that he had no choice if he wanted to find any Guardians. "I'll be coming along with you then, to find the other guardians." He put forward his hand to offer Cyra a handshake.
A handshake? So formal. Cyra shook his hand and they set off in the direction of the cave.
