I think Terezi, Sollux, and Feferi are honestly the hardest to get used to. Leetspeak, )-( and ---E, bluh. But I mean really, most of their quirks are super easy. I mean, Karkat, Aradia, Tavros, Kanaya, and Gamzee require little to no thought to understand. Nepeta, Equius, and Eridan didn't make that list only because of the occasional confusing pun, and Vriska because of her tendency to pepper her words with 8s when she gets agitated. Gamzee might be a little dizzying bEcAuSe YoU kNoW, same wITH, uH, tAVROS,, but honestly most of them are a piece of cake. Even 2ollux ii2n't really that hard two under2tand, nor is F--Ef--Eri, tbh. T3R3Z1 1S S1MPLY TH3 WORST TH3R3 1S. 4ND ONC3 YOU G3T US3D TO H3R, YOU C4N UND3RST4ND B4SIC4LLY 3V3RYTH1NG.

The complicated/weird words are just a part of the writing style/characters' personalities, and honestly they haven't bugged me at all or kept me from enjoying it. If you've made it that far, where it's really getting done with all the exposition and launching into action, I don't see why you'd quit just because you don't like reading some typing quirks.

A lot of "canon art" isn't actually canon, since a lot of it isn't actually drawn by Hussie.
There's plenty of contradicting facts within guest art.
Hussie purposely made all the characters very open to interpretation, skin color, figure, etc.
Black Dave is just as canon as white Dave.

Plenty of light skinned parents have really dark skinned children (there's documented cases of white-skinned children [not albino!] being born to black parents, though rare)

Also, I headcanon Dirk/Dave/Roxy/Rose as fair skinned and Jake/John/Jane/Jade as darker skinned or caucasian.
