Why. I was so confused.
Alright, I'll set the record straight -
I'm the cop. Which obviously brings a lot of questions onto the table here since I claimed delivery driver just now, but I'll answer the obvious questions first.
Why didn't you counterclaim Vino?
As Vino has mentioned himself, he was trying to bait the real cop to claim. Now, from my perspective, I can't tell whether he is town or mafia, which means that I can't tell if he's a genuine townie who's trying to confirm who is cop, or if he's a member of the mafia who is trying to find out who the real cop is. For all I know, he could still be mafia.
I didn't counterclaim Vino because considering all possible scenarios, it was in my opinion better to claim driver:
- If I were to counterclaim, I would not be absolutely certain whether I would be able to defend myself properly. While there are two protection roles on the town side that could protect both cop claims, that is far from the most effective choice town could make given how that leaves the pharmacist vulnerable.
That leaves the protection role a choice between Vino and me, and for all I know, there could've been a 50/50 chance of me getting hit if I couldn't defend myself, which was rather likely because neither Vino or I have any evidence to support our claims except for the order of claiming, which with Vino being the first person to claim would have the chance of leaning towards Vino.
- Claiming Delivery Driver would be a relatively safe route because it is likely that Mafia would try to avoid any Delivery Driver claims they know are town, since at this point they are practically unkillable N1, they don't have a whole lot of power, and is overall just a way to waste a night kill. This means that I would not attract any unnecessary attention from mafia at night. This is especially so when you consider the possibility of Vino being mafia.
Why did you lie?
I lied out of necessity. A cop claim was on the table, and if I had counterclaimed it would've put me on the table of people who'd be under immediately suspicion. That would be in my opinion not the best deal given what I can do.
If Vino never retracted his claim, what would you do?
This question was what I was considering before I claimed delivery driver, because Vino's cop claim dictated two things:
Firstly, The Cake Maker would have a high chance of visiting Vino, considering how he is the cop. While it may not make sense for mafia to waste a vote on someone who would potentially be protected, it is necessary for me to consider the possibility.
Secondly, if Vino were mafia, the mafia would be able to pinpoint who the real cop was based on any reports that they can extract out of the cake maker. This stems from the previous point, which I have stated is a possibility.
Keeping these two things in mind, here was my full course of action:
- Claim Delivery Driver. I was certain at that point that the delivery drivers would successfully earn themselves the immunity; there's 4 of them so even if more than 4 appeared, the chances of suspicion falling on me would be less likely.
- Investigate Vino. I didn't know how anything could've motivated Vino to claim cop, which is why I was planning on investigating him.
- Report on Day 2, keeping in mind that the Godfather would flip town upon investigation.
If you are cop and you knew that Vino wasn't, why didn't you vote for him?
Again, I simply could not tell what would've motivated anyone to claim cop. The reason why I didn't jump to the conclusion was because it could go multiple ways:
- Vino was a protective role, finding the real cop so that he would know who to protect.
- Vino was part of mafia, trying to find the real cop to raise suspicions against and get lynched on day 0.
- Vino was Godfather, trying to lure cop into investigating him and thereby turning up as innocent.
This brings me to my question for
Vino - why. I don't understand where you're coming from and what necessitates the massclaiming given that you're the one who started it, or at least one of the first ones.
