What have you called this map and why the hell give it such a weird name?
(warning: this answer contains some mild cursing and swearing. If you don't like that, don't read it.)
Well, this map has quite the story behind it. When you look through the screenshots, you'll see a building. That's a church. But not just your all-day christian church, no, it's a damn Church of Avallis. Yeah. That's a religion now. But that doesn't explain the name of this map, does it? Shouldn't it have been called "the Church of Avallis" or, "Eglwys Avallis", as I seem to fancy Welsh? Yeah. Probably. But there's more of the story, hold on. One day, there was a new priest in the church. Priest Argus. He was about fourty years old, and had never been a priest before, but was extremely addicted with the whole Avallis-thing and, well, the church was in need of members so they just decided fuck it, and accepted him.
Now comes the weird stuff. As any good religion, the Church of Avallis had some sacred books and documents, aye? Of course this is only available for the high-ranked people inside of the church, and only they could read it. But then Argus decided to read one of those sacred books anyway, and went batshit insane. I probably don't have to tell you what it was called. Yeah. It was called dxcczxc. You can see a little bit of all his madness in the map, as Argus wrote a few books about it. After reading that book, he just became obsessed with that word, 'dcxxzcx'. And kinda murdered everyone. Well, except two random guys called "Ogarci" and "Dirtcake". These did the only thing every sane human would do: Run the fuck away. The end.
Oh. Wait. There's even more.
Turns out those two guys, Ogarci & Dirtcake, got kinda upsat about the whole business getting closed down and everyone being dead 'n all, and dang, they just had to get revenge. So they went to some random nearby village called Blocktopia, got some peeps together, went back and murdered Argus. Good stuff, right? They got their shit back. The insane mad was death. Happy end!
Nope. Turns out dxcczxc meant "Avallis" in the language of the gods (how did they even find that out? Like, it's not like you can just ask a random god, and I don't think there's a dictionary for that kind of stuff) and Argus was the most devoted fanboy to Avallis (which doesn't surprise me really, as the guy was yelling it every damn moment he could and wrote a shit ton of stories on it) and Avallis wasn't quite happy that our two heroes killed him. So he decided to release lava onto the world and just destroy all of humanity, because he's rude like that.
But that's not the biggest reason I've chosen this name, the biggest reason is because "dxcczxc" just sounds hilarious. Seriously. Try to pronounce it.
Who created this map? Me again, but I would like to thank Robin Thicke yet again because he has been a very big inspiration for all my most recent maps and especially for this map. (fun fact: Argus was based on him.)
Size: 128x128 blocks. But as you'll see on the picture, only few of that is actually air. Players shouldn't be able to build OR DESTROY blocks on and above level 100, and should be unable to even access the areas above level 102. It's split in two, and for a reason. I want the player to do something while playing, and a nice goal would see to mine through the 'mountain' in the middle to access the second part of the map to go to the church.
Biome: Plains'll do!
Screenshots:
The first part of the map, in which people spawn. It's boring, but that's what you get for not mining into the second part of the map. HAH.
The second part of the map, which includes a small pond and the church. The church itself has around 4 books in a chest I believe (maybe 3/5), but that's all.
The outside of the church.
The inside of the church.
An overview of the entire map. (People shouldn't be able to access the trees and top of the map, if everything goes right.)
Timers:
Timers at the first side of the map. First timer should go off at 9 minutes, second one at 18 minutes, and third one at 26 minutes.
Second half of the map. First timer should go off at 11 minutes, second one at 20 minutes and third one at 28 minutes. (If you're wondering what the reason is behind the lava releasing later at this part of the map, again, I wanted to give people a reason to mine to this side.)
