Imperator Romanus Sacer
EDIT: Forgot to mention, listen to this while reading this.
Firstly, I apologize for the terrible pun that no-one will understand unless they know who TaKe is. Also, for the long title if it causes any inconveniences. Anyway, I'll go ahead and start now.
Two years back, I was setting my eyes over the horizon of Blocktopia. It was a big place, but I was ready to take it. It had amazing servers, such as Zombie, Lava and TNT. I didn't expect to stay too long, but I wanted to make my mark.
Fast forward to now, and I'm still here. I've been a Zombie Operator twice and learnt so many new things, for better and for worse. I have seen the highs and lows of zombie, its epoch and now its sticky (or not so sticky) end after Mojang brutally murdered Classic. It will be time to move on soon. However, this is a time to look back on memories, and for once, the past.
My real name is Adam, and I joined Blocktopia when I was 12. In January 2011, I was still playing World of Warcraft. The thing I enjoyed most was getting to areas you weren't meant to through wall-jumping and stuff. I watched channels like Reznik. However, that time was coming to its end. I heard some of the glitchers playing Minecraft, and I decided to look at what it is by playing Classic. I stumbled upon a random server called Moria Freebuild (now the MCStorm server, coincidentally) with my friend Robeomega, and began building things. However, while he stuck around, I decided to explore other servers, and I found Blocktopia Zombie Survival. I began to get less and less active on Moria Freebuild, and my friend got banned. He wanted to go to other servers, but I decided to stick around because I found the server fun, leading to me cancelling my WoW subscription (something I hadn't done in so long).
Now, don't get me wrong. Back then, I was your average 12 year old on the internet. I was a complete and utter noob. And, more than anything, I was power-hungry back then. I regret doing many things, but I can't say the circumstances weren't right. I realized you had to help out to get Trusted, and after getting accepted, I was happy, but paranoid. I got demoted two weeks later, and ragequit for a couple of weeks, but returned quickly, realizing it was fun. At this point, it was mid-April 2011.
It took me a while to get staff back, and in that time I matured more and more. In May-June, I had a denied application, but I got handpicked in July. I obtained Operator in August 2011, but I got bored and resigned in September that year. I talked to my friends - Airkid and LetterP often. If I had to look back, I was a pretty decent Operator, but I was still quite arrogant and narrowminded back then. After this, I left the community for a very long time. Then, I found TNT some time in 2012.
I know TNT's already gone, but I want to dedicate a paragraph to them. For a time, I felt like I had another home in Blocktopia. All the staff were friendly, KingSam was an amazing Director, and I loved being in TNT. Unfortunately, like most games, I eventually just got bored and didn't pursue anything on it, but if any of you TNT folk read this, you guys are awesome
So I didn't have much involvement into the community. saying I was going to return a couple of times but never really going that extra mile until February 2013, where my computer was failing and I just played zombie on a laptop for two weeks straight. At this time, I realized that Blocktopia was literally the greatest community, and I could never bring myself to leave it again. I made the decision to re-apply for staff and obtained Operator relatively quickly, going on trial 29th March and becoming full Operator on the 12th April.
However, there was one thing that put me off slightly. It just wasn't the same, because the server was empty. I never enjoyed zombie just as much. But this doesn't change a thing. I'm devastated to hear that the server is going down. I have made many friends and even more memories.
There is one thing I will always owe to zombie and never be able to repay. Before I joined Blocktopia, I was your average immature 12 year old. But slowly, gradually, I began to mature, into the deep person I am today. All I can do is thank everyone for that.
Now, on Lava, for most of the time I was just a noob. I never had any interest in patience, and never enjoyed it until February-March 2013. The server was quiet and quite idyllic, and I found I enjoyed talking to people on it, socializing (if that's possible on the internet) and having tons of fun in general. My signature house was a 4x?x4 tower with a huge pillar in the middle, full of 2x1s. Kept me occupied and honed my parkour skills
It's a real shame it had to go down... I feel like I could've had an even better time. Like Zombie, it's devastating, but it has to happen.
I will not leave. I will continue on, I will play on Blocktopia, and I will stay in the community. However, this is the end for many people. I am not going to thank people individually for my run, because the list would boast so many pages. Everyone who has ever stepped foot on the prairies of Zombie and Lava, has made a contribution to the server, has been part of something bigger, and has helped create something amazing. I have to thank absolutely everyone for that.
I was going to wait until the servers actually shut down, but I'm not really doing anything and I want to get this out there. This is my TaKe and Zombie and Lava, and I hope you all enjoyed it.
One last thing... EG throws. Jolteon42 paceboys
