Technic, they even had(Have?) a server open for it.
I think the Aether mod.
Also, with many mods that add new things, it's always fun to add TooManyItems. It's an ingame inventory editor. Makes for fun when you don't want to spend hours acquiring the new things.

[Numberplay]

1. Heroes on Primordia.
2. I think toomanyitems and worldedit are very popular.
3. I don't check enough mods to know where I can get most of them.
4. I heard about the technic pack but I never actually tried it.
5. I love WorldEdit I always use it on the CMP side of Primordia and it's the only mod I downloaded for myself (in singleplayer) and use frequently.

@Numberplay Heroes isn't a mod

2. Technic Pack, YogBox, Aether, TooManyItems, Zombe's, Clay Soldiers, Rei's Minimap
3. Minecraftforums.net is where mods are posted.
4. Technic pack adds tons of recipes and items, but so does almost every mod.
