I'm aware we might have a few NFL fans within our Blocktopia community and I've decided that with the dawning of another NFL season tonight that a new thread should be made to celebrate our love for the game. Feel free to trash talk others and hype up your team. Post highlight videos of your favorite players and teams. Maybe even a few of you Europeans become interested, so feel free and join in the conversation and ask questions about it.

===============================================================================================

Tonight is the annual Hall of Fame Game, which is played after the Hall of Fame inductions. The Hall of Fame is based in Canton, Ohio and is where the best players of Pro-Football are honored for their past performances in the NFL. Each year a maximum of 7 players are inducted, with this year including six, dating from Jack Butler, former defensive back for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the 50s, and to Curtis Martin and Willie Roaf, who both played within the last decade.

Curtis Martin-2012 NFL Hall of Fame Inductee.
The Hall of Fame Game is played in honor of the new inductees and the Hall of Famers that they will now join. It is a "pre-season" game, which means that the results will not be reflected in that team's record for that year. This year it is being played by the Arizona Cardinals and the now tainted New Orleans Saints, who have been in a very recent scandal which allegedly involved members of the team placing bounties and giving payments to players of their team who injured or violently hit their opponents. The Saints Head Coach, Sean Peyton, though not responsible for providing payments to players, has been suspended for the entire 2012-2013 football season, and is forbidden to coach his squad for the alleged cover-up.

Ohoho. Football.
Vikings and Pats all the way. :3
Oh, and balloon98 , one of my brothers, who is a diehard Pack/Giants fan agreed that the Giants won those two games on poor refereeing. No use crying over spilled milk though. Time for all-day Adrian to rumble over some NFC D's this season. >;D
A million thanks DK for the thread. <3
there is always an excuse :p

PLAYER PROFILES - TOM BRADY
When the NFL Draft rolls around at the end of April, hundreds of able-bodied and talented rookie begin their journeys with their new NFL teams. One by one they are called, with the most talented ones being taken in the first round of the seven round draft. Tom Brady, a young quarterback from Michigan watched the 2000 NFL Draft, expecting his name to be called. As he watched, round 1 came and went, with no answer as to what team he will play for. Round 2 was no different. 3,4,5....
The 6th round came, and as the 199th player selected in that years draft, Tom Brady was selected by the New England Patriots. With tears to his eyes, Tom Brady vowed that the other teams in the NFL will regret their mistake to not draft him....and he preceded to wreck havoc upon the NFL in the New Millennium Era.
During the third game of the 2001 season, Tom Brady was named the starting Quarterback of the New England Patriots, beating the Indianapolis Colts 44-13. He continued winning, and led his team to the 2001 Super Bowl, the Championship game of the NFL, and won, and at that time, becoming the youngest quarterback to ever win the Super Bowl. He would continue to have Championship Success, winning the Super Bowl in the 2003 and 2004. He most recently played in the last Super Bowl, though falling to Eli Manning and the New York Giants.
What separated Tom Brady from the rest of his 2000 NFL Draftees was that even though he was not the biggest, fastest, or strongest player - he possessed, heart, passion, and determination that few would be capable of matching. That is why he is a symbol of the NFL, for he is what heroes should be made of.
Career Statistics as of Post Date:
300 Passing Touchdowns (5th All-Time)
39,979 Passing Yards (14th All-Time)
QB Rating: 96.4
7-Time Pro Bowler
2-Time NFL Most Valuable Player

THIS IS MY FAVORITE THREAD.

I am the biggest NFL fan I know, but I'm a Patriots fan first and foremost. I've been a Pats fan since I was around 5 -- that's the earliest I can remember sitting down on the couch with my whole family every Sunday to watch the games. And yes, that also means that I've been a fan since 1999. The Patriots won their first Superbowl in 2001 and it was followed by a decade of dominance [4 Superbowl appearances including 2001, with 3 wins]. Before you mention anything, let me lay a few things on the table.

> Bill Belichick is the greatest coach in the NFL, all-time. Many other NFL fans that are not Patriots fans will wholeheartedly agree.

> By the time his career has concluded, Tom Brady will be the best QB to have ever played the game. Right now, his name is mentioned as a top 5 all-time. However, he has around 4-5 more seasons left in the tank [if he doesn't become Brett Favre]. Considering this, and considering the fact that the Patriots have arguably the most talented team in the league this year, he could possibly add a couple more Superbowls. This would propel him to stardom.

With this combination, the Patriots have established quite a legacy over the years.

My Superbowl prediction this year: Patriots v. 49ers. Let's put it this way: I don't think any team can rival the Patriots in the AFC this year. While the Texans and Ravens may put up a good fight, I simply do not see them defeating the Patriots. On the other side of the league in the NFC, I see 3-4 teams that could make a trip to the Superbowl. I think the 49ers, Packers, Eagles, and Falcons [maybe] all have a legitimate shot at putting together a nice postseason run. I picked the 49ers because they're such a balanced team and they have a roster loaded with talent. As for the winner of the Superbowl, I think it's a toss up. The 49ers are a great team; they might have the defensive prowess to slow down Tom Brady's terrific offense a bit, but who knows if that will be enough. Only time will tell. Think your team is better than the Patriots this year? I'd like to hear why and I'd like to discuss it!

P.S. I'll be attending the Patriots vs. 49ers regular season game at Gillette stadium this year, as a birthday present from my parents. Here's to hoping it's a good one! Also, awesome thread by DKnucklehead, props to him. I may have gotten a little carried away, but it's because I'm so passionate about the sport and my favorite team.

Chilling I love you like a bro but CMON! Give the Giants some credit I mean look at the players Eli Manning ( I admit he sucks at some times/moments) Brandon Jacobs , Mario Manningham, Ahmad Bradshaw, Victor Cruz, Osi Umeinyora (no idea how to spell his last name and too lazy to look up) and finally Corey Webster.

May i remind you of the 2008 season? Patriots record 18 wins 1 GIANT loss

If it wasn't for Jason Pierre-Paul blocking the field goal against the Cowboys, the Giants wouldn't have even been in the playoffs last year, so he needs to be first on your list :p ! Also Jacobs and Manningham aren't even with the Giants anymore, they're both with the 49ers, but those guys really aren't that great to begin with.

Eh, I wouldn't worry about it. I think they did a good job at the Running Back position by drafting a young running back in David Wilson, who's shifty and provides the Giants with a set of fresh young legs. Brandon Jacobs' tires were running out of tread, as happens to physical running backs such as him. So the Giants made a smart decision by letting go of him in my opinion.

David Wilson

As with WR, may I remind you that the Giants already possess one of the best WR tandems in Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks, who both gave the Cowboys fits last year. You also added Rueben Randle in the Draft, which even though he's abit rough around the edges with things such as route running, he adds a capable body to your already capable receiving core.

Rueben Randle

In summary, don't worry ;)
