  1. Start by viewing the printers in the Control Panel. Click Start/Control Panel.
  2. Under Hardware and Sound, click the Printer link.
  3. The printer status indicates it is Paused and Offline. To correct the problem, right-click the printer and select Use Printer Online.
  4. The error message that is shown tells you one cause of the printing problems. Click OK.
  5. To check the service status, click Start, then right-click Computer and select Manage. Click Continue.
  6. On the left, select the Services node.
  7. In the middle pane, right-click the Print Spooler service and select Start.
  8. Return to the Printers folder. To bring the printer online, right-click the printer and select Use Printer Online.
  9. To start the printer, right-click the printer and select Resume Printing.
  10. To view the print queue, double-click the printer object.
  11. As the document tries to print, it encounters an error. In the Available Views list, select Hardware Bench to verify the hardware configuration for the printer.
  12. For the connections of the printer, select the USB cable.
  13. In the Selected Component window, examine the cable ends to identify where each end is connected. One cable end is disconnected.
  14. To connect the printer, switch to the back view of the computer.
  15. In the Selected Component window, drag the unconnected cable end to a USB port on the computer.
  16. Switch to the operating system view.
  17. Verify that the printer status is Ready. Observe the document in the print queue and verify that it leaves the queue (that it is printed).
