The current situation of our Earth’s water is drastically poor and it is only getting worse. As it is 285 million gallons of water are polluted each year due to several types of water pollution those being: surface water pollution, oxygen depletion, groundwater pollution, nutrient pollution, microbiological pollution, suspended matter pollution, and chemical pollution. With the effects of these pollution types it has gotten to the point where 45% of streams, 47% of lake surfaces, and 32% of coastal surfaces and estuaries are contaminated. More than one third of Americans drink from these sources which in turn cause them to have large amounts of illnesses. This pollution does not only affect the U.S. but also all other countries (mainly developing) accounting for the death of about 14,000 people each day. The amount of water pollution is measured by a system called biochemical oxygen demand (%BOD). The nearest recording of the BOD that is accurate is from 2006 and is at a percent of about 13.1.Proposal, reduce the total BOD percentage. Reduce the amount of each water pollution type added to water. Recreate those destroyed areas of water (oxygen depleted zones). Reduce the amount of damaging material in the pollution sources. To keep the environment healthy. Reduce the amount of deaths per year due to contaminated water. Aid in the recovery of polluted sites. Increase overall quality of water
