Chatting with granta and sparkly last night reminded me of a project I worked on for an engineering math class a couple of years ago. I'm proud of it because, even though it failed in the end, it was the most unique design in the class. I had taken a risk instead of using the most generic design. (after a bit of thought about stresses and whatnot of course)
The challenge was to make a 2 foot wide spaghetti bridge that would hold up 5 pounds for a minute. And the lightest bridge that succeeded would be the winner. (mine was 133 grams and made it to about 50 seconds before it twisted and exploded)
And in the end I learned a few things, so I don't consider it a total failure.
