I think paceboys was talking about @shadowdragoon66's two answers, but I have a feeling you were correct, anyhow.

Tagged Shadow just in case, though. :p

EDIT: Not double posting
Alk, its either like, counterfeit money or maybe a coffin?

A man hijacks an aeroplane transporting both passengers(8 of them) and valuable cargo. After taking the cargo, the man demands nine parachutes, puts one of them on, and jumps, leaving the other eight behind. Why did he want nine?

This is a really hard one. :3

Does this mean the man who hijacked the plane was one of the passengers?...
If so... then there would be 8 parachutes left...
Perhaps... 7 of those parachutes are for the other passengers (since the riddle does say he took the cargo).
And maybe one of those parachutes are FOR THE PLANE?!?!?!?!?!?!? He's secretly saving the plane.

HUZZAH FOR HIJACKERS TRYING TO SAVE THE PLANE!....

I'm kidding. :p

Anyways, what does the "Why did he want eight" part mean in the riddle. I don't get it. Didn't he ask for nine? Shouldn't that say "Why did he want nine parachutes?" Just curious.

((Also: I'm strangely getting a Pink Panther vibe from this))

Assuming the 8 passengers included the hijacker, he asked for 9 parachutes instead of 8 so that he can fool the police into thinking he forgot a parachute when he jumped and the end result was this:

EDIT: It just dawned on me after a while as to what the answer is. The other parachute is for the PILOT. Technically he isn't considered a passenger but the pilot on a passenger manifest.

Although this isn't right, I'll change it to asking for 9 parachutes, that makes more sense.

No one has gotten it yet, but I'll tell you this; the passengers aren't accomplices of any kind. Good luck! ;)
