It all started with a review in a game magazine. What magazine? I honestly forget! I think is was "Game Informer" or something. Whatever the case, it pushed me to try this crazy new game called Minecraft, detailed as "fighting dragons, exploring caves and surviving zombies." I was sold.

After making my classic account I instantly went for the multiplayer servers (I was a hardcore multiplayer-gamer at the time - I played ToonTown!), and typed up "zombie survival". I clicked on one of the first links I saw that had people, and fell into confusion. What the actual heck was I doing? Well, over the course of on and off playing for several months I did, and eventually became addicted. I would wake up at 3 AM in the morning to play, and began wanting to rank up. After quite a bit of time trying, I got my references and applied for Trusted.

I was put on trial near instantly and was very pleased! And boy were those first days tough. I was constantly nervous about whether I should warn or kick someone and feared doing the wrong thing and being demoted. Regulars often would tell me who to warn, and I kept a piece of paper in front of the computer with all of the rules and their numbers for when I warned people. It was absolutely a learning expirience, and one I'm glad I had.

After a while I wanted one of those snazzy skins other players wore, I had to combat Lily97's steelers skin with a packers one! So I bought premium. I soon after tried out the SMP but found it confusing and, frankly, my computer couldn't run it. But after a while, someone suggested I install a mod called "Optifine" and lo and behold! It worked! I could run the game!

And after consistent use of the MinecraftWiki and the care of good ol' jackamel and Dumbshooter, I learned the ropes and helped with CTY. I enjoyed it immensly and I eventually moved over from "zombies trusted" to "SMP operator". This, as well, was a immense learning expirience and taught me staffing was more then a special rank, but rather was to help people and keep the server running.

...Towards the end I started playing tf2 (as suggested by you all!) and lost interest for a while. Then I wanted to play smp again but... It was being closed! For a new one! Journey to Elysium... It interested me. I loved greek mythology and wanted to see how this went. One week in I was sold - got my references, applied for Trusted, got it and went on for the best Minecraft memories I will ever have - being finally promoted to Operator, doing dungeons with random people, clan swapping and finally starting Oceanus. I could go on forever about it, and was deeply, DEEPLY saddened to see it die.

But never fear! Us staff peoples had been working on something new... Dusk of Discordia! I joined up with good ol' Bib and clan to work on Saponem and eventually hit my final rank - Veteran Operator. I must admit. I wish in the end I could of done more as VetOp and apologize for that, but as per normal stuff came up 'irl' and... I had to step down.

Now here I am: As much as I would love to get back involved with everything, and return to helping and staffing but I have come to realize I have more important matters at hand - school, learning to drive, starting post-secondary college class(es) next year, and of course my quest to learn any knowledge of programming I can and start designing games/apps/websites - and I must go inactive. I really cannot completely leave, but doubt I will go beyond popping in once in a while on the servers. Maybe after things even out I may come back to complete activity, we will see what the future holds ;)

Of course, no "i be leavin guyz" thread would be complete without shoutouts! These will not be done in a specific order, and if I miss you I'm sorry it's 9:15 PM and I might mess up :(
Lily97 - You were the first person in this communtiy I truly started to talk to, thank you for everything!
jackamel, Dumbshooter, kraby1, gasy_europeon, nottycat, crashb23, Avant, Vatu, nillbug, Damer, Chillingsworth, snowma, emo, RedShark and every other zombie soul who was there with me for those first few months - THANK YOU, YOU ARE ALL MOST AMAZING AND SPECTACULAR.
LagWarrior - You helped me so much on SMP4, and taught me tf2! Thanks for everything man.
Marnixxie - We argued at times, but you gave me several chances and in the end you truly left a impact. Thank you.
Qube - We were promoted as Operators together on SMP4, and you ended up promoting me to Operator on JtE. You will do well in life, you are extremely fun to chat with and your skills with 3D modeling have always amazed me. I hopefully will chat it up with you on IRC sometime soon ;)
twangfizz - We lived in a desert hill together, kthnx.
All them Luck3rs - You guys made things VERY interesting, when we lost ya'll the server lost alot. Hopefully your harrasing towns somewhere still.
Oak - I watched you go from the guy running Crucia to the economy master and now controller. The fact we are such good friends is nuts, considering we are litterally on oposite sides of the world. Someday you will hopefully lead SMP to wonderful, new things. Thanks for everything man.
superstein - You did so much for me it's insane. You listened and used anything good I suggested, and it made me feel great. You gave me chances, and I wish I had given you more at certain points. Thank you.
JohnO - Sploorky wasn't the only one to make a PM! Ladies and gentleman, this man put his heart and soul into Elysium. He was the leader behind the scenes, a newly made Operator leading long time staff to build a beautiful land for everyone. You were always great to chat with and never did anything I could be negative about. Good luck with your writing man!
Danni - I wanna visit Norway someday, purely to meet the kind people of your country. I remember discussions of you possibly xraying way back when, and now your the drunk controller. You have things under control, and I truly can see big things coming for you. Thanks for everything (including those games <3).
Biblius - You and me started to know each other during JtE... We've had great times, and occasional times to kill each other. In the end, your the only Blocktopian I talk politics with and I always enjoy the time. As with Dan, great things will come your way. Good luck with work, both server wise and life wise.
Shinyshark - I consider you the best staff I've seen in Blocktopia's days. I always think back to you on SMP4 and JtE when I consider options, and am often inspired by things you did. As well, you often bring a new perspective to the table when it comes to different situations, and are always great to talk with. Thanks for everything.
Jubjubers - I honestly started talking to you at first because I had you on steam, you seemed to be going through some rough patches and I hoped to make things better, happier. In the end, your a cool guy to chat with, whether "about music" or just general random stuff. Cheers mate.
56Lonewolf56 - Without you Oceanus never would of taken off. You made some mistakes, but in the end you put so much effort into it you will always have some respect from me. Thanks.
The A Brothers - Aidan, Alan and Andy! You guys were amazing, so nice and willing to help, thank you for making Oceanus what it was!
Hunter - We are forever the unofficial Blocktopia Steam Chat Admins. Never forget.
Sploorky - I never really thought of you as a admin, but as a player I could come to with suggestions and issues. This made you the best admin in my eyes, and I really was saddened to see you go. Also, you like Batman. Thank you for all of that!
KingSam - I will be back for the next vanilla SMP. Let's destroy all again someday!
Ooglie101 - You are the best man, you will always be the official cow to me. The best cow 2014. You always put huge amounts of effort into whatever you do, and I know Infection will be strong with you. Thanks for always being on steam to chat, good luck on yer trading ;p
davidjl123 - You have always amazed me. All the people within gaming I've seen proclaim of the "kid on xbox" and "squeakers" of the world and here you are, 13 and one of the most mature people I've met playing any form of whacky game. And at 13, I won't be shocked to see you as admin 2015! Keep up the good work man, you deserve every rank you have and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Every other person who has helped me out in some way, shape and form - Understand I'm writing this thread at a combo of 9-9:50 PM and 6:30 AM my time, so I may have missed a few people I should've added. But in the end, if I wrote personalized messages for each and every person who did something for me, I wouldn't be done for another couple hours. Thank you for everything, everyone.

As I seemingly head out the door, I just want to offer a few things: I have seen Blocktopia at times of insane fun and happiness, and times when everyone wanted to talk about the latest bit of drama. I've come online to discuss the servers and life in general with people on steam, and other times was simply saddened to have two people I both liked hating on each other in different discussions. Understand, I'm not trying to cause some 'crazy revolation' or something, but rather I want to offer on form of advice that has always worked very well for me: Everyone makes mistakes, including me and you, so what's the point of judging other's mistakes over your own? And if you treat people the same way you want to be treated, 90% of the time the end result will be as wanted. Again, thanks to everyone who has been here along the way, and hopefully I'll be popping in once in a while and (of course) popping up on the forums a little.

Cheers!
Jinks.

It was a pleasure, you are memorable both for your service as well as your generosity. You've always been a giver, whether this was giving your time to SMP, giving your effort to Sancti as well as Oceanus, or giving Christmas gifts to lazy bastards who really need to get you something in return. (Me)

I thoroughly enjoyed working with you and talking politics as well. As a liberal atheist, it's odd to be so friendly with a conservative Christian, especially when discussing politics! But friendship transcends politics, so that should be no surprise at all. I know we'll keep in touch, but I nonetheless wish you the best of luck in future endeavours. Hail, Duke of the Empire!

I first met you back in SMP3 and have since then staffed with you on both JtE and DoD. Its been nothing but a pleasure. I still remember when you created Oceanus it grew to be such a large and accomplished city. Very sad to see you leave hope to see you stop in from time to time.

This is like exactly my story :D

Sad to see you go Jinks, you were a good staff member, and a great friend to everyone in Blocktopia. Have fun out there in the real world!
