Not quite, its fully custom generated with a Terrain Script, that edits all factors like ore distribution, places the ruins and whatnot, etc.

On topic - Will the server always stay with a 1 day ban or will it eventually have days or a period where It will be a smaller map/longer periods of ban (Back when it was a week ban)

Easy Info Screen The command "/?" will show the player some core information about their status, their location, and the environment (including radiation amounts and any droughts).
Droughts
Now there is a random chance that a drought will occur. If a drought happens, it can be anywhere from 1 or more days long and will result in crops being unable to grow.
Thirst
Now, there is a thirst factor to the game. Just like hunger, over time your thirst level will decrease. The lower it gets, the more side effects you will have. As you get perilously close to thirst level 0, you will be a stumbling confused mess.
Any time you drink water from a Glass Bottle, or are in water, your thirst level will increase back up to it's maximum level. It takes about 4 Minecraft days for thirst levels to reach 0.

2. That would explain why I spent 1.25 hours swearing at wheat to grow as I stood still with 1/2 food left.
3. This is useful information. There may be a bug though; I logged out the other night suffering from slowness, weakness and nausea. I logged back in with none. Relogging may reset this? I've been carrying water bottles since, and I didn't think about trying to reproduce it. I'm not sure about swimming, but water bottles certainly work as intended.

The map is already as small as it can feasibly be, but the ban length will increase, yes.

I logged out with none thirst, and when i logged back on i was really thirst, like i hadnt been logged out. My hunger was the same.

Indeed. I logged in today again, and I distinctly drank a water bottle before logging out yesterday, but today I logged in with all 3 afflictions. So it seems to be acting up. Nothing that I can't solve in game though, just a nuisance. I imagine it might be more trouble for people without glass yet though.

I'm pretty sure that if you go to bed and wake up the next morning you'll be thirsty and you won't get too hungry of doing nothing. It's not a bug, it's realistic and just because you don't see it in any plug-in where it even continues as you are logged off, it does work properly.

Sand only appears near water ponds, so if you can't find sand you can't find water.
