Okay, reclarifying my first question.

I join the game and the lava is completely around the spawn. Luckily, I have some dirt, the lava is on calm, and there is floor outside.
I place dirt down to make a small 2x1 area into the lava, break the dirt, and then build behind it as well.
I can now, usually, huddle in that area and get cookies.

In some other maps, i.e, Sanctuary, I can dig down into parts of the spawn and tunnel away into the 'get-cookie' range.

...Is this allowed or not?

If you need to, I can demonstrate in game.

(Also about cookies & lava, treat lava like water - not air?)

Ah, just had an idea.

Set the blocks around the spawn as a zone. Any air and adjacent air to that which touches the spawn air is considered a spawn zone and you don't get cookies in it.

I've editted all (hopefully) of the maps and have increased the spawnzone on all of them. It now covers not only the bedrock platform of most spawns but a few blocks outside of it as well. This is made with the intention to allow recently joined or slain players to be able to tunnel their way away and create a home after the lava has flooded.
Issue: Angry Mood or Furious Mood ((or whatever mood it is)) can cause blocks under the spawn to be removed. Essentially in any cases of these mood changes, players will still be trapped there because the entire spawn safe area is surrounded in lava. There is no way for a normal player, like myself, to be able to escape the spawn in a secure manner.

Let me clear this up a bit.

If you were making a structure in the spawn when lava has already flooded it for the sole purpose of trying to huddle in an area where you are able to earn cookies, like your example, then it is acceptable as long as it isn't near the spawn or an area where players can use it just to join in and sit there for the round (Which means that you may have to cover the entrance up or disconnect it from the spawn depending on the situation).

If you were tunneling out of areas within the spawn to get to other areas where you are able to earn cookies, that is fine. I just don't want to see players using it so they can sit there and do nothing but AFK for the whole round. Like Ogarci stated, it is the intention that separates a house connected to the spawn compared to the spawnhouses that are typically made.

Not if the spawnzone extends below the spawns. Lava can't flow in spawnzones and therefor cannot melt those blocks.

Wait,wait,wait...is this going to happen in Classic lava too?
I am not sure if it will happen to Classic as well, this was mostly to solve the issue with people afking in the spawn homes and not doing anything substantial or beneficial to anything. I doubt it will happen on classic because you have the afk kick. But I am sure trngl3087 or BrickWolf would know more about this.

How hard would it be to implement a spectator system? Put people in creative (With no edit privileges), make them invisible, give them a /tp command. People could still be social and explore the map, it'd give them something to do rather than trying to dig through a flooded map. I've noticed a lot of people that just flat out don't play Angry and leave the server, maybe they would spectate a round instead?

If you're feeling generous they could even get a very very small fraction of the cookies. Just tossing ideas out, not sure how hard it'd be to implement.

Uses up server space so I am fairly positive it won't be added but we appreciate your idea!

Maybe a necropost, but it's regarding the topic "spawnhouses" and I didn't really feel like creating a new thread about it.

I feel like spawnhouses should be allowed BEFORE spawn is flooded on angry rounds, as those can be quite the pain once spawn is flooded. Now that we can't build in spawn anymore either there isn't even a way for us to place a sponge or anything, so if it's angry and you're in spawn, covered in lava... you're pretty much fucked.
