Suggestion : Remove the dislike rating.

I'm suggesting to remove the dislike rating.

The dislike rating serves its purpose less than it is supposed to. Where I see it being used it just aggravates users to the extent where they derail a thread to argue about it.

Besides, if we dislike a thread, why not keep the rating so we can dislike it instead of wasting a post saying 'I do not like this post'.

This is not the point.

I want it removed because people abuse it, they just use it to piss others off. There's a diffrence between disagreeing and disliking. In my opinion a lot of people do not know this, and therefor I think they shouldn't deserve it until they've learned the diffrence.

I dunno, 'dislike' seems like a pretty negative term to me. It would still give the same effect.

Another thing: half of my dislikes are from a certain player who seems to hold a grudge against me. It would appear that he disliked my posts due to this instead of not actually liking my posts. Could we give a 'reason for dislike' for when the dislike rating is used?

Also, bad spelling rating. I see a few posts where a certain player rates 'bad spelling' just because it has one little grammatical mistake that nobody cares about.

The person is trying to get unbanned and admitting their mistakes, and then people go ahead and dislike it just because the person is "stupid" in their opinion. That's completely wrong and probably doesn't make the appealer feel welcomed or feel like they should go back to the server at all. Not to mention, it's also mean and shows flat out respect for the person who appealed.

Honestly, I don't think it should be removed. I did not enjoy the Dumb rating, and now that it's Dislike, I've been using it more, as I see it being less insulting.

People who use Dislike instead of Disagree, it's their problems that your angry about. I, personally, use the Dislike rating only when I really don't like what they said, or how they put it.

Only staff can rate on ban appeals, as far as I know. If I was making a ban appeal, then staff rated my appeal Dislike, I really would not see much hope in sticking around.

The same could be said of Bad Spelling and Old, but those have their reasons, I guess. They can be on the same boat in certain situations.


So, in the end, my vote is to keep the rating. But, I honestly don't think it should be used in ban appeals.

After all, innocent until proven guilty, in a sense.

The thing about this is, its basically like you either think its good for you disagree with it. It'd cut off the opinion of disliking something. I understand people misusing it, but it seems like just another way to make you feel like everybody likes your stuff. Like what they did with LBP2.

I honestly hate it when people do this.

The only time ratings should be used, in my humble opinion, is for the post you're rating.

There are people I like, people I dislike, and people I don't know. But, I don't go disliking all of the people I dislike's posts, just because I dislike them.

Basically, if majority of the people used the ratings for such a reason, I would agree to remove the Dislike rating.

But, I honestly haven't been seeing this all too much. Mainly due to the fact I only browse certain parts of the forums, but I'm just stating my set of facts.

Shiny, do you dislike the "dislike" rating because it's a negative rating, because you feel it's abused, or because you feel it encourages people to not voice their opinions about why an opinion is wrong?
