I wouldn't be surprised if some people don't know their roles. I remember reading something about quantum state mafia before, in which no players are given a role. I thought gmk was going to do something like that originally, but I still wouldn't be surprised if some players don't currently have a role.

as for my "wacky theories", I'm not putting 100% stock into any of them.
the gist of it is that there are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more cons than pros to keeping alpha alive based on his claim.

cons: ∞, lots of risk, could be lying about role, could be mafia, could be pretty much anything and is not obligated to stick with town, could could could could

I'm not saying alpha is innocent, but who forces a claim d1? For all I know he could still be town sided simply trying to make it through to the next day. I don't believe for a second he's an alien. From my perspective he could be anything so he has the odds of a random lynch. You on the other hand I have strong doubts you could be town sided, which only leaves mafia and third party left. For these reasons I think you're a much more suitable lynch.

He had already hinted that he was some special role.
This already makes him a target for Mafia to kill at night, so if he is a town role he should claim ahead of dying.
If he is a Mafia role, then obviously I want him to claim.
And same for third party roles.
I do believe that he is alien 100%, as it's a very odd role to claim if you're backed into a corner and just want a couple nights to live.
Anyways, the main reason I haven't exactly pushed on Hunter27a1 for anything is because I recognize that being overly aggressive is his playstyle. Even if he's going about it in a haphazard way and indeed suspecting almost all the people who disagree with him, I do think it's just how his personality works.
Which is also why I'm not trying to suspect anyone solely based on their playstyle for today: Alpha102 I wanted lynch because he was alien, Ltin I want lynch because he literally tried to guilt town into not doing anything that he couldn't control.
But my vote was more of a reaction test to see if Ltin would come back and defend himself, really.
Am I the only one that finds Nottykitten's Cop Claim extremely scummy though? Why would you even claim Day One without any information; it's basically asking to be killed at night or roleblocked.

Okay, thank you. This post actually tells me a lot. I'm going to have to agree to disagree with some of it, but it's nice to see where you're coming from. I'm not sure why you'd try to kill an absolutely harmless role like alien if you believed the claim. I'll agree with you that hunter is jumpy and quick moving in every game. However, we can't just let people hide behind playstyle arguments, lookwhat happened in SCP. When it comes to play styles I think we need to take it into consideration while also looking at if they are trying to help the town within that playstyle.
Also, i'm pretty sure notty's cop claim was sarcastic and not serious.

A full commitment's certainly important in this game and you've definitely demonstrated it in this game and the previous ones, so I'd expect more from you than that. The possible pros would be that he could be what he says he is and in that case I'd rather have an extra vote against the mafia than not, or he could be lying about his role (since you and Defiant pressed him to reveal his role) and is actually a town PR that doesn't want to get killed the first night before he has any chance of actually being useful to the town.
He could very well be mafia as well, which is why we should take pretty much anything he says with a grain of salt, but I wouldn't lynch him just yet.
I agree with you on the personality/playstyle thing. Why are you finding Notty scummy though? The claim was so clearly a joke I'm surprised anyone at all actually thought it was real.

I basically think it's kind of pointless to lynch Alpha day one, because yeah, he's a third party, but it's not like he's a serial killer or anything and he's giving town numbers

I'm not saying we should randomly lynch, I'm saying that he doesn't kill or actually impede town's victory in any way, and he's a possible target for mafia THAT ISN'T A TOWN PR, so why lynch him and decrease the ratio of nonmafia to mafia?

So many games I've played where someone "jokingly" claims as a role to try to force towntell, because "why would the mafia jokingly claim a power role, it'd just make them look scummy?"
Basically, reverse psychology.
myusername22 , you're tunneling awfully hard on this.
The main reasoning I see for lynching alien is because in a case where the town is divided and Alpha102 might have final say, he's going to lynch whoever hasn't been probed, NOT whoever he thinks is scum.
