Let me start with a story
June 2011. I was looking around on the WoM server list. I had been on numerous freebuild servers and was starting to get bored of them. There it was. TNT Wars. I was immediately intrigued and joined. Man that was an awesome day, and little did I know it would change my life a lot.
I really loved TNT and I wanted to help out more and become a part of the community. So I applied for staff. I barely met the requirements, and quite obviously I was not ready. I had no idea about how to staff, all I knew is that I wanted to do it. I didnt even have any references. Of course, it was denied. -5 votes. 1 month later, I applied again. Same result. I still was not ready, and I became really annoyed. This just drove me harder. I was also really not paying attention to where spawns were. More on that later. So. Here I was. A wannabe staff. Apparently I didn't like the follow the rules a lot according to staff. (I found that out later when I got access to the staff forums. Wow, that was weird.) I could see that some staff thought I could do it, and saw that I had potential. I also saw that a lot of the staff didn't like me, I was that annoying wannabe kid, and from a staff perspective, I now understand how annoying that is. lol. Boom. Before I knew it. It was september, and KingSam and Alkatraz decided it would be a great idea to go though and look at how many spawnkilling kicks had been given out. This was very good for the server, but not so good for me at the time. As I said, I never paid attention to where the spawns were, and I ended up with 23 kicks. I believe the threshold was 20. So, I was banned for a month. Boy did that suck. I spend lots of time on the server and now I could not even log into it. So I went to lava. I met lots of great people, and I believe that most of them have left blocktopia or resigned. I was so relived when I was unbanned and of course, I worked as hard as I could to work towards applying again. I knew I shouldn't do it unless I was fully qualified, and I went and pre prepared all of my answers for the staff application, and waited to get some references. A while later, Marnixxie talked to me and decided that he wanted to reference me. I did not ask him, and you know that when a staff member gives you a reference without asking, that you are ready. I remember the day. It was great. I went and got one more and put my name in the hat. +5 and became trusted. I remember the feedback, and one of the main points is that I dealt with being banned, improved and kept on pressing on. It felt great. (Fun fact, Sparklymuffinz was promoted to op on the same day.) So I went on, and with the help of Marn and SmokingKills I got to operator. (Sparkly was promoted to vetop on this day as well) I have been op for over a year now and it has been great. I really think my experience on TNT has matured me. I have learnt to really not be such an idiot and I think from all of the comments on my apps and behaviour over time I have forced myself to mature, and I think that is incredibly important considering the stage that I am at. I think I am definitely not as idiotic as the majority of teenagers my age, and I do believe that a lot of this came from my experiences on TNT wars
I think its great that TNT has moved on to premium, but at the same time its really not the server that I signed up to op. Its great for sure, but its completely different in my eyes. First of all, my connection is terrible at best, and considering the servers are based in germany, I get lots of lag. I also feel that as time goes on, higher and higher through school things get more important and harder, and considering I would like to get a high OP and aim for getting a degree in Neurology, the more time I put into school the better.
I will probably still hang around the forums, but I most likely wont be on the servers too much any more.
I really think that my journey with Blocktopia has shaped me and has made me a much more mature person then I was before. Really - I owe it to every single person that ever joined any of the servers and more so the people that I got to know.
Now for shoutouts.
