You may not open chests during the race (honesty principle applies). As you inventory is cleared at the start, it is up to you to find food and/or craft tools/weapons.

Why whould brewing stands be a difference? :S

You need to be in Port Ostia at 11:15PM, so make sure you are there beforehand!
